1 comments about Your Vintage Keepsake: A Csa Guide to Costume Storage and Display.
- Don't let the small size of this book fool you! It is filled with excellent instructions on how to care for vintage clothing, properly. I'm guessing most readers will be as surprised as I was by the items that actually harm our precious clothes. My entire closet is set up incorrectly. Now I know why the items I was using to protect my clothing were actually harming them.
I love the way this book feels to the touch. The paper on which it is printed glided through my fingers as I was reading it. The photos are crisp. I contacted one of the suppliers of acid-free products from the list in the back of the book. They have an excellent website and reasonable prices on products I could not find locally. If you buy new clothing regularly, the care of your garments can be poor and it isn't really noticed. When you have a love affair with vintage clothing however, I feel it is our duty to care for these items properly, so they will survive another ten, fifty or even one hundred years. This book will teach you how to protect the lovely textiles, clothing and accessories passed down to us by our parents' and grandparents' generations.

5 comments about Field Guide to Pattern Glass.
- i am not new to collecting depression era glass, i was really into it in the early 80's, but its been a while and i thought a few good books might help me brush up... i shopped around, read the reviews and chose this as one of two that i ordered... WAS I DISAPPOINTED IN THIS ONE! all this book is, is a large compilation of drawings, NO DESCRIPTIONS, NO PATTERN NAMES, just drawings... even if, no ESPECIALLY if you know nothing about depression glass, this is definitely NOT the book for you! i was completely disappointed... sent it back immediately, trust me, try warman's or Gene Florence if you want to actually learn something about depression glass...
- I have found this book very helpful in identifying pattern glass. My copy is worn and soiled from being used so much. One of the best investments I have made in years...This book list hundreds of patterns shown in clear drawings. Great book for beginners.
- Mollie Helen McCain's Field Guide To Pattern Glass is a winner, covering all styles of pattern glass and pairing small black and white illustrations with clear descriptions. Those already familiar with pattern glass will find it a good solid reference.
- This is the best book ive found yet, and I have many books on pattern glass, If your going to buy just one book on pattern glass this is the one! great detail, very large variety of examples,
- "Pattern Glass" by Mollie Helen McCain is an excellent identification guide for early american pattern glass. The patterns are organized by characteristics and pictured clearly. I have had much success in finding the pattern name for glass. As a price guide it leaves a lot to be desired. Patterns are grouped in one of six catagories and priced according to catagory. As both a collector and dealer I find that many patterns are considerably under priced, and that rarity of individual items of a pattern are not considered.

5 comments about Standard Catalog of World Paper Money: Modern Issues, 1961-Date (11th Edition).
- Brilliant, could not do without it- the best on the market without a doubt.
- This book is the third volume in a line series dedicated to paper money collecting. This one particularly concentrates on the banknotes issued by central banks all over the World from 1961 onwards. The book is "The reference" used by all collectors and dealers alike. Thus, it is a must in order to keep uptodate with market prices and with the current issues. Unfortunately, it has mistakes and sometimes it lacks continuity with its counterpart (vol. 2) which is not issued annualy like this one. Nevertheless, if you are involved in paper money collecting, owning this book is imperative in order to be able to refer properly to any moder banknote.
The book can be bought from many sources, starting with its Publisher (Krause), however, my advice is to get it from Amazon.com, since its discunts are unbeatable.
- As always, the work and research to get the latest information available to the collector is presented to us in the catalog as best as possible. I would like to see a section that list countries whose names have changed. While the catalog is a tremedous effort to 'keep current' with the many changes going on while it is in the making, I long for the day when the CD comes out and changes are added electronically. Stamp collectors now have this and a virtual stamp collection. Thanks to all that work to get the latest information for a great hobby!
- Most useful - but - there seem to be several errors in this catalogue. One of the most glaring is the complete omission of SOMALIA, despite the index refering the reader to page 772. These are, in fact, the entries for SOMALILAND from 1994. All entries for SOMALIA from 1962 to 1990 have disappeared.
- I would say, - there is no other, better book, so we have to use this one. I have looked through some pages of it and I already found quite a few blunders. First of all there are quite a few misleading price valuations, I would even say many price manipulations. I haven't gone through every single page of it yet, but a quick look at the book reveals the following:
- Overall image quality got worse (much worse) in this year 2005 edition. Some photos have some white spots and cuts.
- Signature tables have disappeared in quite a few country listings. Instead of signature tables Krause website is advertised all across the pages. Question: why remove what already has been added over years?
- Most of the country letter code explanations and country names are gone from West African States listings.
- Signatures are numbered but not always displayed in signature tables.
- Catalogue numbers are changed and moved around to frequently confusing the collectors and especially addong tons of extra work for dealers.
- Many banknotes are valued way below market value. Some are valued below anytime exchange rate. Example: Latvian 100 Latu exchange rate always was over $160 but Krause values it in Uncirculated condition at $150.
- No ERRATA is being printed. Any self-respecting publisher prints errata pages and puts them in a book, or even sends Errata (corrections) pages to all their customers and book owners. The book was published carelessly. Some colourful images (not so important to a professional) were added, but what's most important is the text info and price valuations. This book is important to a beginner and as well to a professional. We still have to use it, cause there is no other catalogue for All World's Paper Money, but making so many errors and blunders shows that the publisher of this book does not care much about what the reader gets from it.
Good-bye Pick... hello Krause.

1 comments about Antique & Collectible Buttons: Identification & Values [Volume II].
- While I'm sure this is a helpful book for the serious and advanced collector, it isn't for the beginner, which I am. I didn't see anything in it's description that would have let me know that, so I wasted my money. I am not a collector and never will be; I'm just a beginner button sorter, breaking up big collections and selling individual buttons, pairs or sets.

4 comments about The Collector's Encyclopedia of Granite Ware Colors, Shapes and Values Book 2 (Collector's Encyclopedia of Granite Ware Bk. 2).
- A teriffic book. Clear and well organized. My only warning to you is, don't expect to get the prices the book suggests. I find that 1/3 to 2/3 of suggested prices are more realistic for all but the rarest pieces.
- This is a must for the Granite ware buyers prices are great and great learning instruction of what to look for and how to tell if it is old or new I love this book and look at it often as I am looking on ebay alot. A must for the Granite people
- I found this book very helpful as a new collector of Granite Ware. I especially appreciate the items being grouped by color for easy identification with the price values on the same page. Now I am searching to find some backgound information on the makers and enameling techniques.
- My mother-in-law is an avid collector of graniteware, thus our whole family is and she has both of Greguire's graniteware books. I must say I like this second edition much better than the first. This edition lists the price along with the description, making it easier than flipping back and forth like in her last book. This edition is also better because it groups the pieces by color and description and I believe this is also easier. Our family has gotten a lot of use out of Greguire's book, and if you are a graniteware collector like everyone in our family, this book is a must have for reference.

2 comments about Warman's Bobbing Head Field Guide: Values And Identification (Warman's Field Guides).
- Lou has done a magnificent job with this new book. A great and most valuable edition to vintage bobbing head collector's library. A great compliment to Tim Hunter's book with newly uncovered information not yet before available to collectors.
If you are looking for new bobble heads, this is not for you. If you are looking for vintage nodders from the 1960's this is a must have book.
Thank you for the efforts Lou!

- Very, very disappointed. Book is basically for Baseball, Football, Hockey bobbing heads. Most are much, much older bobbleheads, like many years ago. Not any bobbers from present day Nov. 8, 2005 to last ten years, if not fifteen years ago.
Very disappointed. Don't buy if you're looking for any bobbers produced in the last 10 years. Only ones listed are: Michelin Man no price,Orange County Choppers Mikey & Paul Jr. no price, Bill Clinton, no price, Surf's Up Surfer no price, Three Stooges newer issue Curly, Larry & Moe no price and the last one is Uncle Sam newer issue, no price. Sorry, but that's it. Bad choice on my part to purchase.

3 comments about Zippo Lighters: An Identification and Price Guide (Identification and Value Guides (Krause)).
- Excellent book but not good to have alone. This is more of a supplemental.
- Nice pictures, but author knows nothing about Zippo! Captions don't fit the pictures, prices are way off, but its nice to look at. Would not use as a reference book.
- While the book has some interesting information on the subject of Zippo lighters, I feel too much space is used to show old magazine ads for Zippo lighters. This space could have been used for more pictures of actual Zippo lighters and updated pictures from inside the Zippo factory. The pictures of the plant itself show workers putting Zippos in the old flame boxes which were only used until 1976. The other main issue of my dissapointment was the apparent lack of research that went in to the writing of the book. There are many errors in the style names of lighters shown in the pictures as well as the values. The biggest error that stuck in my head was where they said Zippo manufacturing cleans the lighters before they return them to the customers after they go through the repair clinic.
It is unfortunate that Mr. Pope didn't have the opportunity to finish the book he started, perhaps more research of facts would have been done before publishing.
While the book that David Poore wrote years ago is a bit outdated on the values, it is a very valuable piece of reference material for the novice and seasoned Zippo collector. I would strongly encourage anyone thinking of buying a book on Zippos that they consider Mr. Poores book instead.

5 comments about The Complete Guide to Shirley Temple Dolls And Collectibles: Identification & Value Guide (Identification & Values (Collector Books)).
- Great pics of Shirley Temple Dolls & memorabilia organized by years-very thorough and helpful since I am a Shirley collector. Additionally, great tips on improving the looks of the dolls. Well done.

It has pictures of a lot of rare Shirley Dresses and compo. Shirley's that were made in Germany, Australia, Great Britain. It is a nice large book and is a great reference guide. Love it!
- This is the best ever book about Shirley Temple dolls. It is amazing. Filled with information and tips. This book could easily sell for double the price.
