1. Good overall, although only basic pictures, simple text but get the point across. THis book is really the same for over a decade now, but has updated realistic prices. Lar did great and his son has done well since his passing. Good value price too.



2. Mr. Hothem puts together a book that is easy reading but I wish it had a section which showed exactly what characteristics designates certain points from each other (with a diagram). Otherwise, I found the book to be a nice companion book to other arrowhead books I have.



3. This 223 page's book is an excellent introduction to the world of prehistoric amerindian projectile points and arrowheads. In some very nice photos and inscriptions you could find the "keys" to what you collect, their relative prices, regional classification and chipping techniques. A simple and practical relation describes the U.S. materials used to make arrowheads and blades including all the regional types, edges, shapes, individual characteristics of each piece and instructions to take care with them. Indispensable to begginers and advanced collectors this book certainly attempt the amateur archaeologist's expectation.

5 comments about Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms and Their Values.

1. I have an old Flayderman's from the 1980s that has been a great source of information over the years on antique firearms. The sheer amount of information gathered in it is incredible and the latest edition is, believe it or not, even better! More information on many of the firearms and more entries makes this edition the best yet. Flayderman's in an invaluable resource for those interested in antique firearms and I highly recommend it!



2. Ever since the first edition, Norm's book has been the standard reference for antique American firearms. No other reference comes close to the breadth of content. Unless someone takes over, this is likely to be the last edition as Norm is getting up there in years.
   
   The index is still difficult to use as it has been since the first edition. It can be frustrating to locate information on a specific, less common, firearm. The prices listed for most items tend to be several years out of date.



3. I have ll the previous books, I have been waiting for this to come out. A must have for anyone who collects antique gun's.



4. As always, Flayderman presents the best in his guides. Well written and explanations are very accurate. A must for gun collectors and dealers.



5. I have bought 5 prior editions of this book. It is the best antique firearms valuation tool out there and full of interesting information.

1. This is a fabulous book on vintage costume jewelry! Beautiful colored photos, prices, loads of information and FUN. The author shares her own stories, talking with you as if you are an old friend, and by the time you finished the book you'll wish you were.
   
   Anyone who has a passion for vintage beauties will love this book. It appeals to collectors on every level. Don't hesitate to buy. You will not be disappointed.
   
   The author's first book on vintage costume jewelry is also a must have!



2. Ooops, I meant, not your OTHER jewelry book. I liked the first Inside the Jewelry Box so much, it was worth buying what I thought was just a second edition of it. But this is an entirely new book, with all new everything: information, subjects, photos. Great job once again by the talented Ann Pitman, who covers yum-yum subjects from fruit salad to Juliana and Lily Dache ... and exotic hard to find extras such as an Italian Ornella boot and a snazzy Calvaire purse. This is one of those books that keep on giving: you keep finding wonderful things you didn't see before, no matter how many times you look. Great job ... on an all-new book!



3. Beautifully written and the photos are stunning! If you collect costume jewelry you won't be disappointed. Only problem is now I have many more pieces to covet!!!

5 comments about Barbie Fashion: Vol. 1, 1959-1967 (Barbie Doll Fashion).

1. I must admit, I'm not as crazy about this book like everyone else seems to be. I gave it four stars for the beautiful photos, and descriptions.
   But I think some things could be improved. The index lists everything by page number, which is fine if you're just leisurely looking through the book. But if you're looking for one particular outfit, it would be much more convenient to have an alphebetical listing. I wouldn't mind seeing the price guide broken down to include each individual accessory, since many people put together a complete set, piece by piece. But the thing that REALLY bugs me is that she almost always adds the word 'doll' after their names. For example, 'On weekends, Ken doll liked to take Barbie doll for a drive...', or 'Francie doll was excited about...'. Very annoying, to me, anyway. But, overall, it's a very good book to have.



2. To say something about this book is so so easy - this is THE Barbie collection book. Great photos, great describtions of all the outfits year by year.
   You don't need any other book besides this

5. For any serious collector of vintage Barbie doll, this book is the best resource available. I have many other books on early Barbie and her fashions, but this volume is the one that I consistently use. It is an accurate, comprehensive chronology of Barbie doll, her family and friends from 1959 through 1967. The photographs alone are worth purchasing the book. The colors are vibrant and crisp. Each fashion is pictured with all of its original components. This is of great value to the collector in putting together an outfit. I keep this book by my computer for reference when making vintage Barbie doll purchases or bidding on online auctions. I cannot imagine collecting Barbie doll items without it!

1. It's been many years since I've had this book. All of my expectations were satisfied. This book has been the "Bible" for US Paper money as long as I can remember. If you want to understand grading, pricing, or just want to learn about an important piece of American history, its worth the money.



2. I found this book to be very informative & an important book for any collecter/history buff.



3. This book has been so helpful in my collecting quests. I spent about an hour in Borders trying to find a book that gives values of modern as well as old currency for ranges up to Unc-63. It provides all the necessary information (such as signatures, series, quantity printed) for almost all bills and has a nice informative section as well. It gives price points that help you place a bid on valuable bills. This helps all collectors, experienced or not. I highly recommend this book.



4. This is good book about our money and is very educational.
   Well worth the price.



5. This book provides comprehensive and useful information. The valuations cover different seals, mints, signatures, and star notes. The book also includes some information about the history of each note. It is easy to find information and lookup valuations. The only negative is the black & white photos make it a little harder to distinguish between different seal colors when looking up info.

1. I purchased this book thinking it was inclusive of ALL Hot Wheels, only to find it only covered 2006, 2007 and some of 2008. The entries that were covered were very good, but I was expecting cobverage from the begining of Hot Wheels in 1968.
   I returned the book. Beckett Price Guide to Hot Wheels, 1st Edition



2. I just wanted to know the new models of first editions of 2008 but there are not in the guide, there are the last 2007 models, but I really liked the guide because there are pictures of our club cars in mexico. Thanks.



3. I purchased this book thinking that it was a collection of all the hot wheels from the beginning. The fine print of 2006-2008 was difficult to see on the cover.For those who are only interested in those years the book was filled with great pictures and information,but for the vintage collector, this is not helpful!



4. It's good if you started collect in the last few years, If you have older cars I would recommend Lee's Toy Review. Lee's put's out Toy price guide every month.

1. I have many pieces of depression glass and didn't know any of the pattern names. i ordered the book to help identify them. it is helping with that but i thought the book also contained info on estimated value.



2. Was a good book, but if you already have guide 1,2, or 3 it was mostly repeats with different picture views. If this is your first guide it is a great one!!



3. For a collector, this book lacks many of the patterns, needed to know, in pricing a product. Some of the patterns pictured are not defined enough. A
   magnifying glass may be needed for a closer look. For beginners, it is a respected book, written by two experts.



4. I was a bit disappointed in this book mainly because of the way in which it was set up. I am used to their other books such as: "Collectible Glassware from the 40s, 50, 60s". I didn't find it as easy to navigate. The pictures are great though.



5. The book was very helpful, great photos, nicely laid out. Buyers should definately know, however, that it is a book of more rare pieces.

1. I'm still consulting it, but it's a great book. It say what your dealers don't want, or takes you a lot of time to investigate. I'm from Mexico, and mexican coins amateur collector, i have catalogs but this book has been to useful.



2. I landed the job of cataloging my Father-in-law's coin collection. I didn't know a thing about coins. I got this book to help point me in the right direction. It is extremely helpful in giving me the terms used and explaining the DO's and Dont's (DO NOT CLEAN THE COINS) of collecting coins.



3. Hello , Covers all the basics quite nicely , easy to read and understand. I would strongly suggest you read this book and at least one other on your specific interest before you spend a dime on coins.



4. Good information for someone like myself who is just getting started in coin collecting. Would be too general for someone who is a bit more experienced. No buyer's remorse here!

WORTH EVERY CENT, ...AFTER PURCHASING ALOT OF OTHER BOOKS WHICH GOT ME NO WHERE, I JUST PURCHASED THIS ONE, THIS LISTS ALL SUB CATERGORIES WHICH IS EXCELLENT..MOST BOOKS DON'T..........REAL GOOD INVESTMENT.....THIS IS LIKE THE BIBLE OF BASEBALL CARDS...BECKETT BOOK IS A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!! SHIPPING WAS FANTASTIC.!!!!!!



2. This is "almost excellent" Encyclopedia of Baseball cards and price guide. Its physical size and the enormous volume of information gathered and updated every year makes this book indispensable it's a must and certainly has its place in my/our/your library.
   The total number of pages 1848 and the number of entries is Ginormous. Due to the scope of researched necessary to put this fantastic guide book the "Standard Catalog Of Baseball Cards" year after year by professionals the best in the field is one the reasons amateurs and expert professionals in the field use this as their primary tool for research and investigation about anything concerning Baseball Cards throughout history.
   If you are a beginner buy it soon, before it is divided into separate volumes as KRAUSE has done with other guide books.
   The reason I gave [4] ]FOUR STARS instead of five is simple, although better than "The Official Beckett Price Guide to Baseball Cards" it has similar shortcomings as their other Krause guides, complete sections of information are missing and generally not fixed by the following year guide, incorrect or missing a few details, some description, and does pesky prices.
   Regarding prices use this and any other price guide must be used with the understanding that prices in all collectible items, specially does that investors and speculators are involved fluctuate daily, if you have followed any kind of auction you probably have noticed when 2, 3, or more of the same items and condition sell for different prices sometimes with significant differences. Collecting Antiques, Sport Cards, or Coins among others is a fine hobie worthy of the best help when available. Good luck.

3. As I stated in my incipit this is a monster guide for me! it's a huge helping hand for me, as I am new in collecting trading cards on baseball! I began some months ago and till today I own 10,000 cards circa; and day by day I begin to understand what I have in my hands...a piece of American sport history and this thanks to Don Flukinger and his guide!
   I will for sure continue to follow from this side of world (I'm italian by the way) this great American sport!

2 comments about 2008 Comic Book Checklist & Price Guide (Comic Book Checklist and Price Guide).

1. this book is fairly complete to about june 2007. has listings for alternate covers and fairly accurate pricings for older books. the grading guide that is inside has great color descriptive images to define different grades , with great written explanations.



2. I've been very vocal in my support for the Comic Buyer's Guide Comic Book Checklist & Price Guide. To me it is the comic book price guide of choice over the Overstreet guide for a number of reasons. First, the CBG guide is not weighted down by literally hundreds of pages of advertisements like the Overstreet guide is. I mean, what is the point of endless pages of ads for comic dealers and shops anyway? Who buys mail order with eBay around?
   
   Secondly, the CBG guide is not filled with dozens of pages of market reports from dealers around the country. Yes, at one time I found these market reports to be very valuable. But again, this we in the pre-eBay/Internet days. If I want to know what a certain book has been selling for, I can just search completed auctions on ebay or other auction sites. It's no longer useful to me to read what a dealer in Podunk, Idaho sold a Hulk #181 for.
   
   Lastly, while concentrating its efforts only comics from the Silver Age to the present, the CBG guide is able to provide much more information about individual issues. True, the Overstreet Guide does go back to the Golden Age but at a cost of condensing it's information so tightly and with such a small font, it's almost unreadable. I much prefer the CBG guides where each issue of a title is listed individually, rather than as a range of issues. This allows the guide to provide more information such as notable events as origins, first appearances, and the issue's artist, as well as noting the month and year of each issue.
   
   The CBG price guide provides only the near mint price for each issue but comes with a detailed, full color grading guide that explains how to calculate the prices for books that are less than near mint. Like the Overstreet, literally hundreds of cover pictures are included in the book's 808 pages. This is my price guide of choice. It is all meat without any of the Overstreet fat.
