1 comments about The Genius of Wedgwood.
- In 1995, the Victoria & Albert put on an exhibition of Wedgwood to mark the 200th anniversary of the death of the founder, Josiah Wedgwood. I was fortunate to be in London on business and took in this amazing display of pottery. This book is a companion to that show and has several fine articles on the major pieces and the development of Wedgwood as a commercial enterprise and an art form.
The book also has the catalogues of the various displays and so provides much helpful information on major Wedgwood pieces for those who follow this kind of thing. I should also say that the V & A has an outstanding display of Wedgwood available every day. So, the next time you get to London you should head to the museum and take it in along with all the other wonderful pieces they have in their many halls.
The book has many color photos and many more in black and white. I think it still has value for Wedgwood enthusiasts and the curious as a general book rather than being an obsolete exhibition program.

2 comments about Noritake Collectibles A to Z: A Pictorial Record & Guide to Values.
- In one volume, Spain takes the reader through Noritake's art deco production. That is an important point--this volume is not about the dinnerware lines, but rather concerns itself with the art deco "fancyware" or giftware items. Organized alphabetically, beautiful cake plates, dresser boxes, vases, etc. are illustrated, and chapters start off with excellent introductions. The opening chapter itself is very helpful, outlining the overlapping "Nippon" and "Noritake" collecting periods. Not just a collector book, this book also provides a history of the company, and is well-written, accurate, and the best collector book available on the subject. Highly recommended.
- Even if you have absolutely no idea what Noritake is, you'll love this book. Why? The writing is masterful, the photography superb, and the many pictures in brilliant colour which show off the glorious lustre of these precious antiques. A coffee table book not to be missed! :-)

2 comments about The Parian Phenomenon: A Survey of Victorian Parian Porcelain, Statuary,.
- Very informative book with page after page of fascinating photographs. Well worth the money and a great addition to any porcelain, parian subject library.
- This book is an absolute must for every serious collector of English parian. It contains a wealth of information about the history and popularity of this highly specialized porcelain.
The hundreds of photographs and sketches help guide the collector and dealer alike in accurately describing and categorizing their examples.

3 comments about Royal Doulton Series Ware Vol. III (Royal Doulton Series Ware).
- Even though the item description clearly states 112 pages, I apparently didn't read it closely enough & was very surprised when this "booklet" arrived!
Perhaps the information contained in this small booklet is difficult to find elsewhere, but unless you are specifically a children's nursery rhymes series collector, this book is a waste of money! Had I seen it in a bookstore, I would have passed it by unless it had been on sale for $5-$7 MAX.
If you do collect primarily nursery rhyme Royal Doulton, it "might" be worth the investment, assuming you're having difficulty finding the info in more comprehensive volumes. That is not the case for me, so I was very disappointed!
- Being new to the world of Royal Doulton, I am so pleased to have found this series in the Central Library in Wellington, New Zealand. However I was unable to purchase in this country and after some attempts in the UK, went exploring on the internet. I am now the proud owner of the 3 of the volumes - albeit missing Volume II (Vol.2).
Being a new collector of Doulton ware, I didn't want endless information about the product(s), just enough to have a good understanding of dates, times, periods, production, design and marks. All of this is available in these easy to read, easy to handle books. I am really thrilled with them and know that I will enjoy them for life. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I sincerely hope that you enjoy this series as much I do. Jo-Anne Wellington
- If you want to collect Royal Doulton series ware, I consider all four volumes in this series a "must have." I like this book because of the detailed photos -- the author goes way beyond just giving you a taste of Royal Doulton. If you only have one or two pieces of series ware, this book will help you identify them and let you see the whole spectrum of items that would complete your collection. While a terrific reference, this book is not a price guide and no prices are included. The only thing I wish this book had was more color photos. The china is so beautiful it deserves more color. That is the only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars. Louise Irvine really knows her Royal Doulton - this book looks like a labor of love to me.

1 comments about The Dictionary of Minton.
- Too good to go on the coffee table!. This is a great reference for those Minton collectors, and historians. There are not many books on Minton available, but this is a MUST HAVE for your library. The *only* issue I have is that it does not have the famous Minton "seaweed pattern" mentioned anywhere. Photos are great, and overall it is well researched.
