1. Oh my! I saw there was only one review of this fine and funny little book, and it seems to have come from the sorest of the soreheads. If one cannot gain enormous pleasure from the chuckles at the many "jokes" here, one might find satisfaction with this little tome as a profound exploration of and comment on the ingenuity of American entrepreneurs. Bravo Mr. Anthony! And thanks for this sweet gift from a good and true American historian.



2. This has got to be the stupidest book ever written on the planet! Who the hell cares about presidents as "useful" household items???? I put "" around useful because they're not really useful items. We received this as a Christmas gift... it is now a huge joke around our house. I feel like I've been punk'd by my 65-year-old aunt who got this for us! Seriously! Who buys this crap??!! Not any normal, sane human being!

1. Great quick reference book (and cheaper than Scotts Catalogue)...but the spiral version has two big advantages in my mind

   1) You can tear out the pages that you don't need to make the book smaller and easier to use. For example I remove the United Nations, 1st day cover, famous autographs, duck stamps, Canadian trust terrritory and postal stationary sections.

   2) It is easier to use the book balanced on your knee while checking eBay or folded in half next to your Stamp Album.




2. I think this book is a very useful guide for US stamps. The only thing that I was a little unhappy about with this book is I thought this would be the spiral bound copy like you see in the stores, but it is not. Otherwise this book is great! I use it to identify US stamps. It is much easier to use than a Scott Catalogue because under the picture of each stamp is a list of possible Scott numbers that the design corresponds with.

2. This is the way that the world saw Abraham Lincoln. The photos, the statues, the hundreds of items produced after his death. Besides a book for collectors, this is a socialogical study of the diefication of a man. Recently, hundreds of thousands of people turned out for Princess Diana's funeral. When Lincoln died, a greater percentage of the population turned out for the many funeral processions. Lincoln's body was takend from city to city to satisfy the public's need to mourn. The variety and volume of items commemorating Lincoln is incredible.
