1 comments about Nine Roses for Chelsea.
- Recommend this book inna heartbeat. Well written, easy to read, opens the heart. Keep kleenex handy, but they're easy tears, from feeling all the love, not hard tears. Critters are a bargain, for just a little food and shelter, you get all that love. If you know anyone who abuses their Critters, tell them to stop, okay?

1 comments about Dogwood and Catnip: Living Tributes, Departed Pets We Have Loved and Lost.
- Recovering from the loss of a beloved pet takes a lot of time and tears. Counselors in this field have always recognized that there are some special activities that can help the healing process. One of the most successful of these is the creation of a special garden of memory for a beloved deceased pet.
Dogwood & Catnip is a unique book that offers bereaving pet owners a new approach to creating a memorial. Its monochrome illustrations beautifully compliment the individual stories that comprise part of this book. They tell how each person was helped by planting a garden, tree, plant, or even a memorial stone in the yard. This book offers an undertaking that would be a unique tribute, creating a beautiful and peaceful personal refuge, with an aura of peace and remembrance. The layout includes many profound and pertinent quotations, in the margins. The book follows through on the author's previous publication, A Garden of Love and Healing (which was also favorably reviewed in our newsletter). It also features a section listing many plants, with explanations of their traditional unique symbolisms. This is a gentle guide for the novice gardener, as well as the experienced. Going back to nature we can find beauties and healings we don't usually experience in our "normal" daily lives. A memorial garden or section can become a personal spiritual oasis - a place of serenity, reflection and special remembrance. Whether or not one has the time or ability to create a garden or just put in a single special plant, this book can help. As the author indicates, the psychological significance of greenery symbolizes a compassionate heart that is ready to bloom again. It is a welcoming back, and a reverence for life. There are many ways to memorialize a beloved pet, and of course, the best memorial is always in one's heart. But the recommendations and love expressed in this publication are unique and wonderful. We recommend Dogwood and Catnip, and feel sure that it can fill an important part of your bookshelf.

3 comments about Barn Kitty.
- My three year old and I read this book almost daily. She loves the illustrations and after we read the story we have discussions about our pet, who is the "queen" in our family. This book provides a gentle approach to the often dismissed subject of death, which we must all face one day. This story has been helpful for me to explore this important topic with my daughter.
- Barn Kitty offers a wonderful, tender way to help children cope with the death of a pet. Having read this story to a group of young students, I found many of them had lost beloved pets. A lively discussion ensued after reading the book. The artwork is very warm and colorful. The children were very touched by Barn Kitty.
- This is a developmentally appropriate story for young children. My second grade class found Barn Kitty a very appealing character, both visually and as her personality developed throughout the story. The accepting nature and love of the other animals made for a very comforting atmosphere. The children loved the humor of Barn Kitty as "Mistress of the Barn". The crown on the letter "i" on the title page was noticed and enjoyed immediately. The children were fascinated that this was a true story and gently surprised by the ending. It led to a discussion of pets that they had loved. Comforting story for young children with a very appealing main character. Illustrations are soft and add to the story's warmth.

1 comments about I Still Miss You: Letters of Comfort for Dog Lovers.
- It has been over 4 years since I lost my dog. I bought this book for myself about 2 years ago. I love it, I still read it and refer to it. I am now buying it for a friend who just lost her beloved dog. It is great. Every vet should be made to read this book before they graduate.
