1 comments about Art Nature Dialogues: Interviews With Environmental Artists.
- John Grande's new book Art Nature Dialogues is not only informative, but it presents the scuptors and artists ideas, points of view without the usual critical control or monologue.
Included are David Nash, Nils-Udo, Hamish Fulton, Patrick Dougherty, Bruni Babarit, Bill Vazan, Alan Sonfist, Betty Beaumont, Ursula von Rydingsvard, Peter von Tiesenhausen and herman de vries (apioneer of earth art from the 1950s in Holland)
'
This is one book thatshakes the art world softly, gently and with a sense of the physical, realworld of nature . Bye Bye PostModernsim. Hello respect for the Earth.
It is about time a writer focusssed on earth sensitive artists instead of the od generation of minimalist earth movers like Smithson, Heizer who destroyed the earth for art./.

2 comments about The Principles of Harmony and Contrast of Colors and Their Applications to the Arts.
- Is not easy to review a book that is published since XIXth century, too much water have flown in the color theory field, knowing that, I bought it as a reference book, I recommend it only under this consideration
- I'm not sure about all editions of this book but the one that I own (paperback...) has NO color inside at all! Who ever heard of a book on the subject of color that didn't include any? What were they thinking? I'm sure it's a fascinating read but if someone is interested enough in color to read this hefty tome, you've got to think they might also enjoy looking at it too. This is an oversized thick book which is at least 95% text. There are very few black & white diagrams either.

- "This photobook is chock full of the stars of Hot House porn videos! Their aggressive sex appeal, massively-trained bodies and pure masculinity are inspiring from the first page. The solo portraits will make your mouth water. This is pin-up photography at its best!"--© zebraz

2 comments about Beginner's Guide to Mosaics.
- I purchased this book to start my very first mosaic project. It was very easy to follow and showed exactly what you need to do. I was never stuck wondering how to do something. My first project was the fruit bowl, which turned out very well and looks professional. There are excellent projects for the beginner and projects to work into as you get more advanced. Highly recommend!
- This book is full of great ideas that can be copied or adapted. A must for the learning mosaic artist.

1 comments about 400 Traditional Tile Designs in Full Color (Dover Pictorial Archive Series).
- This is part of the Dover pictorial archive collection, so the whole book is designs. The bit I like about this book is that the designs are in color, so you can see variations in light and dark colors, color combinations, colors receeding and coming forward, etc.
Some designs are done using just the tile shape, and some depend on designs painted onto the tiles. Some are very bold and simple designs and some are very flowery. Appears to be a good mix of designs from around the world and throughout time. Well worth the price!

1 comments about Fire and Form: The Art of Contemporary Glass.
- SIMPLY SCULPTURE
Warmus writes with wit and intelligence. Glass, as an art making material, is no different from other materials.....except when it is. This very readable book makes this point well. There are some ideas that can't be expressed with any other material. Warmus doesn't discuss the craftmanship involved in using glass to make art. He contextualizes the work of artists working in this medium with other art made in the last quarter of the 20th century (ie. Dale Chihuly as a colorfield sculptor). An easy read, great images of art made from glass.

2 comments about Nymphettes.
- First off, some people need to be able to know what is and isn't an elf. Pointed ears usually means the character is an elf. Round ears, they aren't.
Work is mainly pinups. Many characters from Blairs other 'Elflord' and 'Sapphire' series appear here, including the brief 'Bianca' series in 'Sizzle'.
Fairly tame erotica for this artist. Wonder when we might see v2?
- It was an enormous thrill for me to provide a review of "The Erotic Elfin Art of Nymphettes" by Barry Blair and Colin Walbridge. Barry and I go way back, almost twenty years. We've never met, never even spoken by phone, but when I put out my fledgling fanzine "Alter Limits" back in 1986, Barry's comic company Aircel was one of the most helpful independent comic companies to a young writer, supplying me with review copies, artwork, even paying to advertise in my little zine and I've always appreciated it. I've been an admirer of his work ever since he first produced his legendary fantasy comic, Elflord. Influenced by both Wendy Pini and Wally Wood, with a touch of Anime, Blair has carved out a nice little niche for himself and garnered a legion of fans with his comic works over the past two decades.
This 48 page over-sized book feature Blair and his partner Colin Walbridge presenting an extraordinary collection of full-color paintings of erotic and sultry Elfin art, all with the wily and spry humor we've come to expect from them. One thing I love about the book is that the each piece is titled. I wish this was done more in art collections. Blair and Walbridge use colors that are as bright and feisty as the characters they illustrate.
Dark Elves are popular character in fantasy fiction these days and one of the standout paintings in this collection is "Rosehawk" featuring a dark elf female, clad in contrasting red leather, holding a sword and ready for battle. In "The Lynx and the Serpent Lagoon" a beautiful red-haired elf battles for her life against a monstrous sea-serpent. Showing off their wry humor is a piece called "Now you will tell me" depicting an elf buried in sand up to her chest as a female pirate waits for her to spill her secrets.
"Unexpected Visit" is an aptly named painting. A cute elf is lounging in a refreshing bath when she's suddenly startled by the appearance of an unwanted companion in her bathtub. And in a nod to playful pin-ups of days gone by, "Bad Bianca" shows a pretty little elf on the receiving end of a good spanking while several other elves laugh and giggle in the background. It's a superb collection by one of my favorites from the "golden age" on independent comics. Well worth checking out for fans of fantasy or erotic art.
