3 comments about Mosaics Inside and Out.
- This book is very helpful to a beginner in the mosaic arts because it goes over the tools and materials needed to create almost any mosaic. There are many projects included in this book with step by step instructions, supply lists, and photos to demonstrate the process. If you would like to get involved with mosaic art but don't know where to start this book will help you gather supplies and give you enough ideas and technical knowledge to begin your first mosaic project. The only thing this book lacks is more explaination on the correct kinds of grouts and sealents to use.
- I'm just a beginner and have already picked up a few books, but by far this is the easiest to understand, I like how the book is laid out, the projects are wonderful, and after reading it from cover to cover I have a much better understanding of the art of mosaic tiling.
I highly recommend this book, no matter what level your at.
- I met Doreen today and without knowing she wrote a book to inspire those interested in mosaics, we got to talking about what she and I both do. It turns out, we both do mosaics. She is unbelievably talented and motivated me to get out there and do so much more. She is involved in a very large scale mosaic comission at the moment and I can understand why someone would hire her to do this. She happened to have a copy of her book in her car and I bought one on the spot, without looking at it, and I am so happy I did. (I think I own all the other mosaic books on the market today). This book is concise, colorful, inspirational, full of ideas for the beginner student as well as the advanced. Those who think they know what they are doing already will find much to get them headed in a more advanced but totally reachable direction. I do highly recommend this book for those looking for their first mosaic instuctional book or one to add to their collection as I have. Enjoy, you will not be disappointed and happy mosaicing!

5 comments about Entropia: A Collection of Unusually Rare Stamps.
- This incredible book for me is a totally new
way of illustrating a fairy tale.
The description of this fantasy world using
postcards is innovative and very interesting.
I strongly suggest this book to all the
art lovers.
- As an artist of middle age, I sometimes think of my art as good and my growth as complete... that is, until I look at work like this.
Suddenly I feel like a beginner again, with nothing to do but learn and get better at my art. Mr. Scheurer teaches this teacher how to teach better, just by the inspirational settings he creates and the drawings he does from deep in his imagination. There is a whole world residing in him that is too fanciful to describe. He is my new favorite artist.
- Even though this book, at first glance, appears to be an art book, there is a very charming story woven into the "stamp" descriptions, as well. Each page features an illustration of a stamp from the imaginary realm of "Entropia" and a description of the event or history the stamp is commemorating. I read this book in two sittings, only because I had an appointment to keep that tore me away from such a beautiful book. Once finished, this book left me with a strong desire to read and see more of Christian Lorenz Scheurer's "Entropia".
- Christian is one of my favorite artist. This new book is full of great stories and wonderful pictures! It's great for all ages.
- Bought this book as a gift for a friend but then ended up keeping it for myself.
The fantastic story and beautiful illustrations felt like a mix between Nick Bartock's Griffin and Sabine and Miyazaki's Spirited Away.
This is most inspiring fantasy book I read this year!:)

1 comments about Encyclopedia of Marks on American, English, and European Earthenware, Ironstone, Stoneware (1780-1980): Makers, Marks, and Patterns in Blue and White, ... Ironstone (Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- For years, serious collectors of pottery and porcelain relied on the works of Geoffrey Godden to assist them in their search for manufacturer's marks. Other authors produced different books, but Godden always remained the standard. Those days are over as Arnold A. and Dorothy E. Kowalsky have now produced what will undoubtedly become the definitive ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MARKS. Emphasizing the products of American, English and European earthenware, ironstone and stoneware from 1780-1980, the Kowalsky's present - as their book jacket states - "Makers, Marks, and Patterns in Blue and White, Historic Blue, Flow Blue, Mulberry, Romantic Transferware, Tea Leaf and White Ironstone." Containing 688 pages and hundreds of manufacturer's marks, this masterpiece highlights - and cross references to Geoffrey Godden - American Potteries and Marks, English Potters and Patterns, and European Potters and Patterns. Also included are notes from selected authorities spotlighting transfer printing on blue and white ceramics, historical Staffordshire, Flow Blue, Mulberry Ironstone, White Ironstone and Copper Lustre Decorative Motifs on White Ironstone China. The authors have diligently provided a guide for readers to know how to use their book. Some books are written for information; some for pleasure. This wonderful addition to the world of antiques and collectibles provides both information and pleasure. You really can't get any better than this!!
