1. A great book on mostly British kitchenware, but also includes some German and French items, it offers not only details on pricing expectations but also some good ideas on what to collect.

3. Very helpful book for the beginner collector of kitchenware, especially old English kitchenware. Lots of colour photographs of the items the author talks about, which makes for quick identification. Wonderful book.

1. This coffeetable collectable book about Bakelite and the Style of its time is beautiful and informative. But this memoir of the "miracle material" would have been even better in gloss, as with the brilliant patina of its subject, rather than matte.

   The reader is often jarred with syntactical reminders that the book was printed in China: "No longer in demand for consumer goods, Bakelite returned mercurial career ending as it had begun" [sic.] Say what?

   And then there is the horror: a Texas Chainsaw Massacre-type approach to test for true Bakelite. The author advises that a good way to tell if a piece is really Bakelite is to take a hacksaw or sandpaper to it! Please ignore this part of the book. Don't ruin the Bakelite! They don't make it any more! There are better Bakelite barometers!

   Aside from these admonitions, this is a big, broad, beautiful buffet, an overview and history of bygone eras' sumptuous stuff and practical products.

1. This book is a must if you are into collecting or selling Carltonware. There are lots of coloured photographs showing most of the patterns . The book has been a great help in identifying patterns so that I can descibe them accurately when selling on ebay. I recommend this book to anyone interested in Carltonware.

1. The coffee maker is not normally an item thought of as artwork, but the examples presented here should lead to reconsideration of that opinion. The machine is not merely a means to an end, but an integral part of the process and enjoyment therof. If anything, this book is a paean to human ingenuity in the improvement of the ordinary objects of daily life.

1. This book is filled to the brim with hundreds of pages of plastic ware from the 30s to the 60s. Goldberg gives us photos of everything from plastic toothpicks to appliances. He includes everything you can think of: barware, bowls, canisters, cookie jars, clocks, containers, flatware, glasses & tumblers, napkin rings, picnic items, refridgerator dishes, salt & pepper sets, utensils, even watering cans!

   There is a large section which covers dinnerware, with over 25 different manufacturers, including a nice section showing various backstamps. He includes a bilbliography, value guide (which may not reflect current online auctions prices), and a short history of plastic as it was introduced to America. My only quibble with this book is that I wish the photos were a little better lit, they are a little dark in some sections. But all in all, a valuable reference.

1. Book contents include Black Americana and Natives, Cat Characters, Niagara Falls and Mermaids. I enjoy most Salt and Pepper Shaker pictorial price guides, however, I was disappointed in the overall content of this book. In many instances they illustrate the identical set of salt and pepper shakers (i.e. style/size/age) in a variety of colors. The space would have been better utilized showing a larger variety of sets and when applicable explaining that identical sets in different colors retain identical values. The photographs are very helpful, however, some of the Black Americana pictures tend to be a bit dark and lose detail. Prices listed are helpful when identifying the value of your collection, or looking for that great bargain.

1. The historical and company information is very useful and not easily obtainable elsewhere, but the choices of appliances are often butt-ugly. The great book on the subject is still to be written.
