1 comments about Murano Glass (1910-1970) Theme and Variations.

  1. This is an excellent reference with great photos and a section which shows the makers labels and signatures. Really useful book, recommend it for all collectors of Murano from the 1950's/60's.

  1. Great book! Gives plenty of color-photo examples of named pieces. Very pleased with this book. Different editions many times show different pieces for examples, it's a good thing.

  2. Being in the hobby of collecting glass as I am for over a decade, becomes alot more interesting when you have a fantastic book like this to refer to.

This book offers tremendous return for your dollar as far as what it gives you. Concisely written, easy to read, well planned and designed value guides on the same page with the pattern you are researching, are ideal. The number of pictures you get of any pattern is by far, more detailed than any other reference I have seen. The number of pieces made that are listed ALSO seem more complete. You will see a wide array of all the patterns in all the colors which is incredible as well. As much as I am a fan of Gene Florences' wonderful glassware references of which I have many, THIS beats his Elegant Glassware of The Depression Era. It just is more complete. It also shows patterns that he does not include.

If you collect, sell, have an interest in glassware or all of the above like me, you too, will want to add this volume to your glass reference library.

3 comments about Collectable Glass Shoes: Including Metal, Pottery, Figural & Porcelain Shoes.

  1. I own Wheatley's Collectable Glass Shoes, second edition, a wonderful book for glass and china shoe collectors. I love the color photos and descriptions and lay-out. I bought the first edition hoping that it would contain pictures of shoes that were not kept for the second edition. After comparing the books, I find that the second edition is far better. I hope this wonderful author and collector creates a third edition. The prices listed are wildly inflated compared to what I have observed being paid on Ebay.

  2. This is truly a great book......It is packed with lots of great information.I've learned alot of companies that I did not know of, that make/made them.Giving me new names and
places to search. And the price guide is super!I feel confident bidding on the auctions now.Now I know when to stop myself! Thanks for such a good buying experience!!!!!!!And for making
    collecting shoes so much fun!!!!!
    Sincerly,
    Wanda Human

  3. About 40% of the book is glass shoes. Great photos, exact descriptions, great reference for identification. I especially appreciated the section on reproductions and re-introductions. Very useful for telling the valuable old stuff from the not-so-valuable new stuff. And a fair treatment of the somewhat valuable new stuff. Prices are a little too moderate, in my experience. Too high on the common items, way too low on the rare ones. But useful guidelines, nonetheless. Caution: you will want to buy everything shown in the book.

2 comments about Standard Companion to Non-American Carnival Glass: Identification & Value Guide.

  1. This book is full of great pictures and reference to Carnival Glass made internationally. This book is produced by two experts of American made Carnival glass, has great pictures, and about a paragraph of history of each company that decided to try their luck at producing Carnival glass after the US started to export it. It also includes one page of a few of the trademarks of these countries. I have no regrets purchasing this book but wish they would of elaborated on the different histories of each of these countries.

  2. A very good guide for a new collector. Eazy to read and good value.

1 comments about Stained Glass Windows And Doors: Antique Gems for Today's Homes.

  1. The 1st book was incredible! I loved it..the windows were exciting and different...and I couldn't stop picking it up and looking at more windows and designs.....The second book, for me, doesn't have such incredible window designs...a bit more ordinary..however, what I do like is that it's laid out a bit more in order..and a lot more informative history on the stained glass...Prices are really irrelevant..as they'll be outdated in a few years...There's such a great need for books on stained glass...and these certainly are of help. A book on just American Stained Glass windows would be appropriate..and then one specializing on Victorian styles, A&C styles, and then regional styles...along with how they were used in the homes..and maybe a collection with period pictures...etc..there's lots more that needs to be printed!
