5 comments about The Glass Candlestick Book, Vol. 3.
- This is a FANTASTIC Reference on Candlesticks. It is informative, giving background information on the companies and their years of operation, showing highly detailed photographs of various candlesticks made by each company, and explaining the differences in lookalikes. There are over 230 pictures of Fostoria candlesticks and over 185 of Heisey, two of the most prolific of the 19 companies represented in the book. I especially like the PHOTO INDEX of all pictures in the book, making identification of unknown pieces a breeze. This 3-book reference series is well worth the money for any glass collector or dealer!
- I now have all three volumes of this great Candlestick ID Book. I have gotten rid of the 5 others I had, as it is all in these 3 volumes! Candlesticks are listed by company names, but in the back of each book is a pictorial index that is fast to look through. There is also a quite complete index by name of pattern and maker. I cannot praise the 3 Glass Candlestick Books by Tom Felt and the Stoers enough! If you are interested in American Glass and don't have these, you need them!
- Complete. One of the best balances of good photos and research that I have seen.
Highly recommend all 3 volumes.
- Love the miniature quick-identification pictorial indexes! Would love a separate pocket book of all 3 volumes of these with a price for shopping. THE DEFINITIVE RESOURCE. Can't speak highly enough about the pictures, the completeness, and the detailed information. Even describes similar pieces that could cost you, and how to recognize them. One of best books in my 20 glass-book collection. Just great. As much as they knew they wrote in, a nice change from a rigid structure. THANK YOU, Tom Felt and Elaine & Rich Stoer! GET ALL VOLUMES.
p.s. The only other source of information you'll need is a guide to all the etchings that are available. They tell you what etchings are available on each candlestick, but don't always show a picture of each anywhere in series.
- I thought this book was great. It is an excellent resource guide if you are trying to identify candlesticks. It is very comprehensive: 1) provides a history of the manufacturing company, 2) explains the difference between candlesticks that could look identical but aren't, 3)provides a ballpark dollar value, 4) beautiful pictures, and 5) if they aren't 100 percent sure of the manufacturer, they aren't afraid to say so. In addition to all of that, it gives a "thumbnail" view in the back of all the candlesticks in the book so if you just time to quickly look for an identification, you aren't having to read a lot and flip a lot of pages. Great addition to my collection, and finishes the series. Excellent value for the price. Volumes 1 and 2 are also worth the money and time.

2 comments about Morgantown Glass: From Depression Glass Through the 1960s (Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- I love this book as it opened my eyes to the beauty and rarity of Morgantown Glass (Economy Glass, Old Morgantown Glassworks, Morgantown Guild also included as this company went through huge changes trying to survive the Depression.) The pictures are exceptional, the information relevent and well-researched. The only problem I have with this reference tool is that it is hard to navigate for specific items. The Glossary is wonderful, but a bit murky as to which name or number goes with which item. Regardless, it is a stunning addition for any American glass collector.
- Very well done reference book. Many well done pictures and large variety of product. I highly recommend this book.

1 comments about Pictorial Guide to Vaseline Glass (Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- The pictures of the glass in this book are all taken under black light which shows off the effect of the uranium salts used in the manufacture of Vaseline Glass. The patterns and manufacturers of the individual pieces are noted, and there is a separate section with photographs of European Vaseline Glass, much more elaborate and highly decorated than American Vaseline Glass.
The author wisely does NOT included prices since values can change dramatically. This is a very worthwhile book for the serious collector.

1 comments about Encyclopedia of American Cut and Engraved Glass (Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- This is an excellent resource for American Brilliant Cut Glass collectors. This is the second-edition of Revi's book, and is better and full of more pictures. The pictures of the cut glass are of great quality, and could not look better. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT AND RESOURCEFUL BOOK. 5 Stars.

1 comments about A New Light on Tiffany: Clara Driscoll and the Tiffany Girls.
- Looking into how the highly-valued Tiffany lamps and other fine objects came to be, the three authors disclose the critical, unique part Clara Driscoll had in this. Driscoll served as a major creative force for many Tiffany lamps by her own artistic sense and as director of a staff of other talented women. Recently found correspondence of Driscoll's--an Ohio native who lived from 1861 to 1944--verifies that she was mostly responsible for the classic Tiffany designs of the Wisteria, Dragonfly, and Peony.
The authors do not aim to devalue Louis Comfort Tiffany's (1848-1933) role and reputation in giving Driscoll her due. They seek mainly to lay out a broader, more informed understanding of the creation of the timeless Tiffany works. Parts of the book go beyond Driscoll's place in the company to see her as representative of sprightly, adventuresome, and bright young American woman coming into the American workforce and into large cities in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Besides Driscoll, there were a number of other similarly-talented and -natured women who contributed to the inimitable design and outstanding status of the Tiffany lamps and other objects. Collectively known as the "Tiffany Girls," many are pictured in available period photographs; and all known are given biographical notes.
