5 comments about Blue Dog - Note Cards.

  1. I received exactly what I ordered and quickly. I have a friend who admires my silkscreens and I want to give her these cards for Chanukah.

  2. I love these note cards. While my husband and I lived in Louisiana we went to George Rodrigue's gallery and fell in love with the Blue Dog. I just had to have these notecards!

  3. I collect the Blue Dog Calendars for the art (a Blue Dog for every week of the year!). Rodrigue now has a new publisher/printer and the change is very noticable. The calendar for 2004 looks more childlike, with a garish bright yellow background on the cover and bright yellow plastic spiral spine (don't know what else to call it). The print quality is not as good as past calendars either. However, it is a great deal for the price. I LOVE the page with Louis Armstrong and Blue Dog. I've only seen this print in expensive Jazz Fest posters.

  4. If you like Blue Dog (and I do!), you will love these cards. It's not clear in the description, but this set comes with 15 total cards - 3 each of 5 designs. The box is a real collectable, too. I'll buy more - to send and to frame!

  5. I liked them so much I orderd two more boxes. Now I have one to use, one to frame and one to keep untouched by human hands. The box they come in is as nice as the cards themselves.

2 comments about Retriever Puppy Training: The Right Start for Hunting.

  1. Retriever Puppy Training: The Right Start For Hunting by canine training experts Clarice Rutherford and Cherylon Loveland is a superbly organized and presented instructional guide to the art and science of training a hunting dog. From selecting the right puppy, to identifying and working with your puppy's personality traits, to solidly adhering to a chosen training program, Retriever Puppy Training is an excellent, concise, no-nonsense, "user friendly" reference to helping a young, eager-to-please puppy become the best hunting dog it can be.

  2. This is an excellent book that helped me train my lab, and now she is the best dog I have ever had!

3 comments about Chesapeake Bay Retrievers (Complete Pet Owner's Manual).

  1. I really enjoyed this book--lots of information about the Chesapeake Bay Retriever breed and good pictures. It's the perfect book if you're new to the breed (like I was) and just want a general reference book about Chessies--or just want to know more about them.

  2. I realy thought that this book was a great source of information! It told you how to groom and care for your chesepeake. It also said alot about where and how the breed originated. It is realy good for new Chessie owners.

  3. This new Barron's paperback is a much better guide to Chessie ownership than the Henschel book. References Chessie's throughout the book. Example: Specific guidelines on how to shop for a Chessie pup - not just pups in general, depending on your need - show, hunt, or companionship. This 100 page book will get you off to a good start, or help explain the Chessie's reputation, help with training, and increase your general understanding of this underappreciated breed. Get it!

2 comments about Puggle (Designer Dog).

  1. This book is a easy read that would be great for giving a holistic idea of the history of the Puggle, standard puppy raising, and what to expect. It's not the definitive Puggle book out there but it's a great place to start to decide if a Puggle is the right dog for you and your family. Great cute pictures! I love my Puggle and I'm sure you will too!

  2. I've been very interested in Puggles for years, and finally got one of my own late last year. I bought everything I could find on this hybrid breed, making sure I knew everything about them. Most of the information in this book I was already aware of, but I have been researching for awhile. If you are not too familar with puggles and would like to learn a lot, purchase this book!

5 comments about The Joyous Havanese.

  1. Kathryn Braund writes "The Joyous Havanes" in a colloquial style which makes for an interesting read. The book is a thorough reference book for owners and/or lovers of the Havanese breed.

If, however, you want the facts maam, just the facts, another book might suit you better. There were more pictures than I wanted to see and the breeder information was of little interest to me.

  2. Very informative through out the whole book. Author knowledgable about breed.

  3. This is an excellent book for the new Havanese owner or those of us who have been breeding and showing for many years. Has information on all phases of your Havanese's life. This lady really knows her stuff. Written in terms anyone can understand and the prictures alone are worth the price. I recommend this book to anyone who owns or wants to own a Havanese

  4. This book is more for breeders than Havanese owners. It also seems very dogmatic.

  5. There are few insights from this book that you can't get from the web, with a lot less reading and for free at that. There are many "cute" pictures and lots of breathless admiration for the breed but few germaine details. The details that are included are often times silly, the description of shampoos with an obcession about pH., for example is over the top.
I gave the book to my mother-in-law.

5 comments about The Doctors Book of Home Remedies for Dogs and Cats: Over 1,000 Solutions to Your Pet's Problems-From Top Vets, Trainers, Breeders and Other Animal Experts.

  1. A lot of what's in this book isn't very helpful. The remedies are all pretty basic and not very well explained on why you would do them. I work w/ animals and wouldn't recommend this book to any of the owners we see.

  2. This book is a small but informative review of symptoms that can alarm a pet owner. The organization of the book allows for quick location of a problem. It also covers behaviors such as toilet training and chewing/teething and subjects like grooming. Altogether, this is a must have book if you are caring for a pet. It will answer many questions and offer helpful tips so that you can be the best pet-parent possible.

  3. I am very thankful to all of the vets and animal behaviorists who contributed to this book. I use it a LOT. From everything to stomach problems to aches and pains to....whatever the problem is. This book covers it from A to Z.

If you love your dog or cat, and don't have the money to go to the vet for every problem that pops up, this book is a godsend. It also offers alternative medicines that actually are better for your pet.

I just simply cannot get along without my copy of "Home Remedies for Dogs and Cats".

  4. I loved this book so much that I bought it for several friends. I only have dogs, so I cannot offer an opinion on the cat advice. For dog owners, it is an excellent resource with so many different things.

  5. LOVE IT, with fur babies, one needs some help, and this book is GREAT

3 comments about The Dog Lover's Companion to Los Angeles: Including Ventura, L.A., Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties (Dog Lover's Companion Guides).

  1. I am glad I got this book. Lots of good ideas and things to do with the Dog. Only reason it does not have five stars is that I wish the book was more detailed with hiking trails and more places to eat with the Dog

  2. Look, you got a dog or two? Living or traveling in southern California? Then you need this book! Seriously, to find out which beaches, parks, restaurants, hotels, etc. will accept your pooch in LA or OC, this is it. Lots of little-known dog-friendly places and tips on travel make this book worth its price.

  3. Wow -- in planning a vacation to Big Bear Lake, I found a great dog-friendly lodge thanks to this lively written guidebook. What a resource: It lists so many parks that I didn't know allowed dogs, plus lots of hikes for great views of the Pacific. We're looking forward to going to the dog-friendly stores listed for Beverly Hills and taking the ferry to Catalina Island.
Our dog adooooores this book! She's no longer cooped up at home.
