1. I have known the author for many years and have watched the amazing effort and attention to detail that when into this work. The final result is splendid. It is a work of love for both the subjects of astronmy and ancient and medieval coinage. From our perspective it is often impossible to gain insights as to why these coins depict what they do. Here Faintich solves part of the puzzle in a clear and engaging manner. The ancients were very more in tune as what was going on in the heavens and the astronomical symbols (and their interpretation) were used to commemorate the events of the times. Your purchase of this work will give you a much greater understanding and appreciation of the ancient and medieval world.

1. This work, along with Friedberg's book and Hessler's work, make up the three primary basic reference works on United States Currency. The Catalog contains an excellent reference section on National Bank Notes, receiving much more press than in Friedberg's work. The pricing, while out of date, is actually fairly realistic in today's market, unlike the Black Book or even Friedberg's book. A great plus is that this work is cross referenced by Friedberg Numbers, which are the standard cataloging numbers used by all dealers and collectors in the hobby. Well worth the investment!

3 comments about 2007 North American Coins & Prices: A Guide to U.S., Canadian and Mexican Coins (North American Coins and Prices).

1. I bought this book when I started collecting Canadian commemorative dollars and the book has been a big help providing information like mintage figures, images of the coins, and prices. It also gives the sizes in mm for the different coins which makes ordering albums or holders a lot easier.
   I would recommend this book to beginners and long term collectors a like if they are buying Canadian or Mexican coins. I have several other world coin books and this book provides more useful information and is easy to follow.
   I just finished a US modern commemorative collection and I wish I had had this book when I was buying coins for that. The pricing of the coins in this set aren't correct in this book but the other information is valuable.



2. I have ordered this book year after year for my dad for several years. This year he told me that the book has more information about the mexican coins, in fact, he order several books for all his friends.
   
   If you had an older edition or you are interested in mexican coins, you should buy this book.



3. Terrific little book, I use it all the time. If you have been collecting coins for years then you may not need this book but you are going to want it. It catalogs all (as the title suggests) the North American Coins (U.S., Canada & Mexico). On the other hand if you are just getting started in coin collecting then this book is an essential. Either way, it's well written and accurate, enough said.

1. Very good book of german notgeld, other countries are listed, very fews pictures of other countries



2. This book says it all in the title, except I'm not sure what they mean by guide. There is a short introduction of the author blah, blah... The notgeld is listed and easy enough to find but no information, like engraver/artist, where it was pressed, how many were made or how many in circulation, in fact it tells you nothing (and most do not not photos) except there is a general/vague 1-7 scale of rarity with no pricing or suggest value. this was merely a checklist.



3. This guide contains a list of emergency money issuing authorities, mainly cities. The reader will see many images, some of them in color, to have an idea of how interesting collecting emergency money may be and will have access to a bibliography which may help to search for a more comprehensive information.

1. I REALLY LIKE THE MAGGIE THORSEN BOOKS. THE CHARACTERS ARE VERY REAL AND LIKEABLE. LOOK FORWARD TO READING MORE OF THESE BOOKS. THE FACT THAT THEY TAKE PLACE IN A SMALL TOWN WITH A COFFEE SHOP IS UNIQUE, TOO. MOST OF THE COFFEE SHOP BOOKS ARE SET IN LARGE TOWNS WITH INTERESTING FOLKS, TOO.
