1 comments about Pilgrim Souvenirs and Secular Badges (Medieval Finds from Excavations in London).
- Pilgrims badges were big business in the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th centuries. As it has always been people's tendency to adopt a "holier than thou" attitude, and the purchase of a badge or pin that would show that you had visited some shrine or other fulfills that need perfectly. This book is an excellent reference on these badges, with many plates and detailed descriptions.
Buy this book...it can't hurt you to know something about these.

3 comments about 2007 North American Coins & Prices: A Guide to U.S., Canadian and Mexican Coins (North American Coins and Prices).
- I bought this book when I started collecting Canadian commemorative dollars and the book has been a big help providing information like mintage figures, images of the coins, and prices. It also gives the sizes in mm for the different coins which makes ordering albums or holders a lot easier.
I would recommend this book to beginners and long term collectors a like if they are buying Canadian or Mexican coins. I have several other world coin books and this book provides more useful information and is easy to follow.
I just finished a US modern commemorative collection and I wish I had had this book when I was buying coins for that. The pricing of the coins in this set aren't correct in this book but the other information is valuable.
- I have ordered this book year after year for my dad for several years. This year he told me that the book has more information about the mexican coins, in fact, he order several books for all his friends.
If you had an older edition or you are interested in mexican coins, you should buy this book.
- Terrific little book, I use it all the time. If you have been collecting coins for years then you may not need this book but you are going to want it. It catalogs all (as the title suggests) the North American Coins (U.S., Canada & Mexico). On the other hand if you are just getting started in coin collecting then this book is an essential. Either way, it's well written and accurate, enough said.

4 comments about The Official U.S. Mint 50 State Quarters Portfolio.
- This portfolio is sturdy and well-designed. The slots for the quarters are tight so you dont have piles of change when you set it down. Nice descriptions of each state next to slot. Well worth the few dollars extra.
- My kids absolutely love this portfolio...I do too. Each state has a placeholder (they pop out for the coin to be inserted) with the state name and mint location. The kids love searching for the state name and "P" or "D." This is a high quality folio, it's very sturdy and the coins stay put in their location.
If you're looking for an album where the coins come in and out with ease, this is not the album for you. If you're looking for a smaller album that fits nicely in an average shelf, this too is not for you (see dimensions).
The kids love to read over the state facts and then find the state location from the map of the U.S. on the center page. We have also used an additional cheap but good state coin book by Whitman (The Inside Story Of The State Quarters (Official Whitman Guidebook))that provides the kids with a larger look at the design of the coin and additional history.
- This is a classroom size state quarter portfolio. With facts about each President, state trivia and room for all the state quarters, including both mint sites, this is a good beginner's coin holder . I enjoyed reviewing the American facts and the short biographies of the Presidents as much as I did filling in all the spaces for the coins. My grandkids liked it so much they started collections of their own, which was my original intent anyhow (:D).
- My 5-year-old received this as a gift and has thoroughly enjoyed collecting the state quarters. I just bought one for my newborn and will collect for her until she's old enough to do it herself--especially since this will be continuing a number of years!

1 comments about 2003 Handbook of United States Coins: With Premium List (Handbook of United States Coins).
- I recommend this book greatly. I'm only 13 and a beginner at coin collecting. This book helped me find out how much my coins are worth. It tells how coins are made, what the ratings mean and gives lots of pictures of the many varieties of coins in the book. A book for all ages.

1 comments about So-Called Dollars.
- So it took 45 years but at long last we have the official second edition of the title 'So-Called Dollars.' So-Called Dollars are roughly defined as silver dollar sized medals that are not issued as trade tokens or storecards; by schools, coin clubs, the military or political organizations/candidates and have been issued in at least one form of metal. The first book was issued in 1963 by Messers. Hibler and Kappen and listed 1000 different medals each assigned it owns HK number. A sort of cult arose around the book with many collectors attempting to either collect the book (all but impossible) or sections of it. The medals cover a wide panoply of subjects and many are available for surprisingly little money. The problem was that the book was never re-issued so that used copies often sold for above one hundred. Four intrepid collectors banded together at the behest of the original publisher and produced this updated version in paperback (a hardbound deluxe edition was also offered to private subscribers). This version is far superior to the original because it has been able to locate and photograph many of the medals not pictured in the original, it has added some of the metallic varieties not listed in the original and it has added and amended a lot of critical information on the medals. Now there are likely around 1200 official HK numbers listed which makes the hobby at least 20% more fun. The only two complaints I have about this edition are: The cover is made from flimsy paper that will wear out quickly and the greatly expanded index makes it difficult to search for a specific medal by name. Still, this book is definitely the so-called BOMB and you must own it!
