5 comments about Hollywood Divorces.
  1. If your a Jackie fan than this book is for you. An awesome fun can't put it down beach read! The character outlines are amazing, its such a fun ongoing can't wait to find out what is going to happen next! Fun, Fun ,Fun definetly recommend this book

  2. Another rump through Hollywood land with not very exciting outcomes. Sure there is lot's of sex, a little romance and loads of airheads but all the above hardly make for compelling reading. The three main female characters, Shelby, Lola, and Cat are so plastic you think they would have the label Tupperware on their foreheads. It was a bit refreshing to see Collins try and inject some morality into this book ala the scene where Lola confronts her family in regards to her divorce but she quickly stepped back. Later, Lola's "bargain with God" was the most laughable plot line I've ever seen in a novel such as this one. I personally feel Lola should have gotten her just desserts but being a woman we couldn't have that. Shelby comes across as a weak version of Crystal Carrington and she might stand by her man but she looks like a fool through the whole thing. Cat was simply a subplot to fill up more pages since her character never really does anything and everything goes her way. As for the spice factor I would have to rate it mild say for Alegra now there was a character one can sink their teeth into. The ending was different then what Collins usually does and I didn't see it coming. In the end, Collins books are like boxes of chocolates; they are so good while eating them but they can also make you sick and put you off. A little indulgence though once in a while isn't bad. I have to say if this is what true Hollywood is like it sure makes you think. I wonder if real life actors think Collins is doing them a favour or tarnishing their reputations and the profession itself. Recommended for a quick read and for those who like soap operas. This book contains five CDs and Ms. Collins does the reading herself which in my opinion she should stop. Every female character sounds like a bimbo and every male one like a gangster from the Bronx.

  3. I really enjoyed this book. I've never read any Jackie Collins books that I can recall. It was entertaining and fun to read. Never dull or boring. I loved the 3 main characters. Cat was smart and sassy, Shelby was classy and admirable, and Lola was a true starlet diva. I enjoyed the little twists in the plot and the ending was a good one. I recommend it and will read more of her books.

  4. I'm such a sucker for a page turner and celebrity gossip. This book had both! I know that these aren't real celebrities, but it is such fun to read about them and not be able to put a book down.

This follows three main characters and their marriages...and divorces. There is cheating, scandal, drugs, passionate sex...and new romance. So much good stuff going on that you don't want to put it down.

This is 100% Jackie Collins and so good! If you love her books then you'll love this one too.

  5. As always, Jackie Collins has brought the world of the super sexy, super rich and super glamorous to us ordinary folks. I love how she gives us so many rich characters and so many inter acting plot lines. JUST TRY TO KEEP UP!! This book is yummy !!!!!!!!!!!

5 comments about Hollywood Wives - The New Generation.
  1. I had this book in my pile of books waiting to be read, don't know why I didn't get to it sooner. I loved all the characters in this book, I wanted so much for everyone to get what they wanted and the jerks to get what they deserve, the only complaint I have about this book is that the ending was to rushed but all in all a fun read.

    Happy Reading
    Lisa

  2. As a huge fan of Jackie Collins, I was eagerly awaiting this novel. It was written in her distinctive style, which has been imitated often. I was a tad disappointed that the plot strayed so far from the original Hollywood Wives tome, but was happy to renew my aquaintance with some old friends...er, charcters. Thought the slang was a lttle overdone, however. I'm 22, and swear I don't speak like that! Was a great read for a true Jackie Collins fan, and one I know I'll enjoy reading again.

  3. It may of been trashy, brainless, tawdry melodrama but I loved this book! Jackie takes all the stereotypes of Hollywood celebrities and throws them together into a glamor-packed soup of gossip and subplots! Like a 500-page tabloid! The characters are all true-to-form spoiled, self-obsessed divas. The goings on are appropriately scandalous. The many talents and many husbands, the wild rich kids, the gay followers, it's all here!

The perfect Hollywood novel it may not have much substance but since that's what's expected of its subjects it's just perfect!

  4. One of the reasons I've found Jackie Collins to be such an enjoyable author is that she creates memorable characters. Her novels, usually are loaded with characters that you'd like to know and those that you'd like to take down a few pegs.
Not so the case with HOLLYWOOD WIVES-THE NEXT GENERATION. The characters are boring, predictable, shallow, and totally not Jackie Collins.
Don't waste your money or your time.

  5. A Jackie Collins might be what I call a fluff book, but I do enjoy one now and again. Everyone needs a break not only from the stress of their lives, but also from the serious fiction novel you (I) may normally read.

Hollywood Wives, The New Generation was a good book to kick back with and unwind. With the normal twists and turns of a J.C. book: scandal, shockers, betrayals, revenge plots, love, lust, hate...this book keeps you flipping the pages till the exciting and rewarding end.

5 comments about Lucky.
  1. Readers, please get all of Jackie Collins books, they are sensational. Get the book (Chances) first, then continue on to Lucky. The books will knock your socks off. All of Ms. Collins books are rated 5 stars as far as I'm concerned. Good reading material. You will like all of them.

  2. This is the story that got it all started. If you haven't read this book then you are in for a treat, and before you finish this book make sure you have chances, lady boss, dangerous kiss on hand because you are going to need to know what happen next. I assure you.

  3. Jackie Collins' Lucky, is a novel about power, love, lust, sex and crime. Daughter of a powerful man, Lucky Santangelo, an erotic and wild beauty, plans on continuing the family tradition with honor. Hungry for power, success and pleasure Lucky sets out seeking for her desires. Before she knows it, Lucky embarks herself on an adventure full of glory, passion, trouble, sex, vengeance and suspense. From Vegas to New York after her father's unexpected and undesirable wedding. Pregnant by the world's richest man, Dimitri Stanislopoulos, a passionate lover, Lucky lives her life between her East Hampton home in New York and her son's father's private Greek Islands. Off on business in Atlantic City, Lucky hits the road with power, money, glory and love. Her glory is cut short, when her dangerous past catches her back leading her to court.

This novel is extraordinary. This novel kept me reading, I couldn't take my eyes or mind off the book. Jackie Collins gets deep into descriptions making you feel the characters emotions and desires. As you read on and learn more about each one, you feel that you know these people. You can just imagine each scenario in your head, and feel that you are part of the scene but that no one can see you.

  4. What more can I say? All of the money in the world could not get me to pry my fingers off of this book. In Collins' sophomore release of the Santangelo saga we get reaquainted with the awe-inspiring, business savy and headstrong Lucky Santangelo, daughter of the notorious Gino "The Ram" Santagelo -- former mob boss.

Not one iota of what Collins' writes in this book comes off as being unrealistic, boring or repeptitive. Writing a book like this takes pure, unadulturated talent!! How she manages to come up with new and exciting characters, keep us thouroughly updated on old ones, intertwine all of their storylines FLAWLESSLY and leave her fans begging for more is harder to comprehend then learning Chinese Arithmatic in Latin!

Lucky comes back geared and ready for a whole new peril. I don't know if there is much I can say about this book without giving too much away... It's just all so JUICY and addictive! I will say that we are introduced to some new characters -- Lennie Golden being the main one. As well as reuniniting with some characters some of us may have thought wouldn't come back -- Olympia and Dimirti Stanislopolous ... These three characters will influenece Lucky's life in a MAJOR way... You will just have to read to find out. This is yet another 10 star read from Ms. Collins.

  5. In an earlier review, I said Collins wrote trashy reads; I regret that now. "Trash" is sexist as it often only refers to light fiction written by women and there's LOTS of pop fiction by men that is hardly prize-worthy. I also think calling her work "trashy" was a way for me to act as though I was above it and just reading it ironically. The truth is, Collins is great at what she does and that's writing compelling, "can't put them down" novels that can make you turn off the phone so you won't be disturbed.

"Lucky" is Collins at her best. Don't worry if you haven't read "Chances": Collins summarizes the previous book in the opening chapters. Also, don't be turned off because there is a Mob element if that's not your thing because the Mob barely figures into this tale. What we get instead is a sprawling, multi-character tale full of coincidences, surprising developments (at least once a book, Collins springs something on me that I didn't see coming) and the usual doses of sex and money.

"Lucky" is an insanely fun read. Despite the fact that it was published in 1985, the novel is as enjoyable as ever and is my highest recommendation for a fun summer read of 2007.

5 comments about L.A. Connections: Power, Obsession, Murder, Revenge (L.a. Connections).
  1. As always Jackie has written an excellent book. I'm waiting for her new release in July

  2. L.A. CONNECTIONS is actually 4 separate books combined into one paperback. Each segment reads as a separate book, as they were originally published as a 4-part serial.

The main story line throughout all 4 segments is a series of murders that affects in some way all the main characters. There is Kristin, the expensive call-girl who is trying to support her sister who is in a coma; there is Sally, the big chested super star who is really a down-to-earth simple gal who happened to become a celebrity; there is Madison, the journalist, who accidentally meets Sally and finds herself involved in the coverage of a murder; and a host of other fascinating characters, all bigger than life. And in between the murders there is plenty of sex, violence, and other trash that keeps the pace moving.

What I like about Jackie Collins books are the characters. They are never dull and are always living on the edge, no matter what their profession. L.A. CONNECTIONS was no exception. The problem with this book was that it read like 4 separate books, when i had been expecting one. It also seemed to have an abrupt ending as if Ms Collins wanted to get this book over with. This is not to say I didnt enjoy the book. I did, and it was fast reading from start to finish. But I think this book could have been better, if the ending was done right, and the 4 separate novels (Power,Obsession, Murder, and Revenge) were re-written to be published properly as a single book.

  3. I thought this books is pretty good. Since it was written to be 4 separate books what i didnt like was that in the beggining of everybooks she would talk about the one that i just finished. Overall her characters were well illustrated in my mind by the way that jackie collins had intended.

  4. I read a lot of Jackie Collins' books. The thing I like about her books is they are easy reads, entertaining about Hollywood and right to the point. I recommend this book. I had it read quickly and was entertained to the end.

  5. I loved this book. The ride was wonderful. I have read quite a few of Jackie's books and this one is definately among the top 5. You must read this one. FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

5 comments about Dangerous Kiss: A Lucky Santangelo Novel.
  1. Dangerous Kiss is so different from the other Lucky Santangelo novels because it does not feature the Bonnatti family. I really loved that it introduced new characters to the world of Lucky Santangelo and Lennie Golden.

This book is definitely worth five stars because you won't want to put the book down. It will keep you wondering about the fates of Lucky and everyone that she loves!

  2. Before Dangerous Kiss, every Lucky novel was an improvement from the last. That's why I was hoping for this to be the best Lucky novel, and Lucky could end at her best. Unfortunately, this one almost makes Chances look better!

This is "A Lucky Santangelo Novel", yet Lucky only plays a secondary part. Lucky's persona we all knew and loved in her prior adventures is much more passive, which is a major letdown. Another thing that I must say is that most of the characters crossing over from other Lucky novels serve no point in the novel, and you almost want to yell at the book, wondering why they are wasting pages.

Lucky has been a lot of fun, but I think it is time to leave her be, and move on to bigger and better things.

  3. From reading some of the reviews the customers have said i was a little sceptical about reading this book, but once i started it i couldnt put it down. i brought it everywhere even to work (something my boss was not thrilled with). i would deffinatly read this book again. personally i think it was the best book out of the whole lucky series. i hope you enjoy reading it like i did!!

  4. As all the Lucky's novels this one is excellent. You won't be able to put down the book until you finish it, JC has the ability to write five different stories in the book, merge all of them at the end of the book and keep you interested in all the stories and willing to read for more.

  5. I thought this was a great book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and entertaining book

  1. when the book said love story i thought it was going to be one of jackie's regular sleep around love story, but surprisingly this was a book of true love and not just true lust. great book i couldnt put down. =)

  2. This is one of my favorite books of all time. I'm not a huge Jackie Collins fan, I've read some of her stuff and most of it just isn't my cup of tea. This one though! WOW! Its such a great story, peppered with flashbacks and different points of view. You just WANT Nick and Lauren to get together and just when you think they might, some tragedy yet again looms, ripping them apart. Its a smooth read, and hard to put down, so make sure you have lots of time on your hands because you won't want to stop reading. I first read this book about 6-7 years ago, put it on my bookshelf and just a few months ago pulled it out again. By this time, I had remembered the main story line but had forgotten a lot about the characters lives and the circumstances that bring them together...like the tornado....the murder....the marriages...wow.

If you're a Danielle Steele fan, but like me, think her stuff is a bit too syrupy sometimes, then this is for you. Jackie Collins pulls no punches in this one, just shooting straight from the hip and telling it like it is. Its a GREAT book, buy it for your collection and you WONT be sorry!

  3. I loved this book. I could not put it down and since the first time I read it, I have read it twice more. There are some great plotlines in this book that keep you on your toes.

  4. I was expecting a little more from Jackie with this book. It was still an enjoyable read but nowhere in the league of some of Jackie's other books like "Chances".

  5. I absolutely love Jackie Collins, but I think that this book fell short at the ending.

I didn't like how Lauren eluded Nick for the entire book, even up to the last few pages. She seemed a bit too pretentous and untouchable. I thought she loved him?

Otherwise, I loved Nick and empathized with his pain. I had hoped Lauren would have been more of a likeable character.

5 comments about Lethal Seduction.
  1. I've been an avid reader of Jackie Collins since her early days. Although all her novels are diverting, the newer efforts just seem a bit stale, as if the author is trying to re-create a hit formula. "Lethal Seduction" falls short of her other novels, the characters aren't as likeable and interesting. Also, what happened to Wes, Silver Anderson's husband? (Hollywood Husbands) He and Silver were perfect together and he's not even mentioned. Rafaella from "Rock Star" seems to have been written out of Kris Phoenix's life as well which is disappointing. To be honest, these days I pick up Collins's novels in the hope that they'll get better.

  2. I like Jackie Collins books for a light read on the beach. Her older books, the Lucky series, Hollywood Wives, and Hollywood Husbands I particularly liked. This is trashy, averagely written "literature", so I take it for what it is.

Although this book is fairly entertaining, it is inherently flawed. One thing Jackie Collins is good at is creating a variety of characters and bringing them all together in the end. She does that in all her books, and Lethal Seduction is no different. However, this book nowhere near measures up to her previous efforts. In fact, it almost feels like a duplicate of all her other books.

I'm so tired of all the women being the most beautiful thing on the face of the Earth. Sure, they may be famous, but not all famous people are beautiful! Second, all of her characters speak the exact same way. Some of them may speak a bit more slangy, but the vulgarity abounds from every character. I can't imagine some of these characters saying the things she has them say. All everyone does is have sex, and lots of it. Come on, how about some depth! The Gem character was ridiculous, yet another perfect and innocent wannabe actress. Dexter talks to her for five minutes, and he's in love? And he practically stalks her from Vegas and she doesn't think he's a nutcase?

I don't know...this book is good for a day at the beach, but don't expect anything groundbreaking, and don't expect anything different from any of her other novels.

  3. Once again I enjoyed this book tremendously. I also picked up a few pointers. This was my first Jackie Collins novel. I have read about eight more and still counting. For a first impression I was very impressed. Keep up the good work, we love it.

  4. It was a very interesting read, it had romance, drama, suspicions and more. it was a while since I read it but I highly enjoyed it, she'll leave you wanting more and with a lovely ending. The characters weren't predictable so thats good.

one more impotant thing: Since you'll love this book do not be tempted to get lethal seduction:the prequel-> deadly embrace which came after it, because it was Horrible!!! it felt as if she was rushing to make a dead line, and she repeated every single thing and focused mainly on michael. It was a very annoying book.

  5. I am a Jackie Collins fan and just embarked on a reading frenzy. I have ordered a lot of Jackie Collins' books and just completed two which I loved dearly. However, I am having a hard time reading this one. This has got to be the worst of Jackie. Save this for when you have nothing at all to do and even then --you will find the time to do something else. Not worth it.

5 comments about Thrill!.
  1. Others have already said it better, but good God this book was awful. Predictable plot, stilted conversation, forced attempts to show knowledge of pop culture. What's with the random Demi Moore bashing? I bought it for 50 cents at a garage sale and overpaid. There's 6 hours of my life I'll never get back.

  2. I've read two Collins so far. The first one, Hollywood Husbands, didn't impress. This one seemed more interesting. Maybe it's addictive. Already I can see some repetition of themes between the two books, such as the plight of the teenage daughter. But this actually makes sense, this repetition of themes, because it seems to reflect the industry itself: samo samo, very closely prescribed roles and behaviors, from the creative, kooky director (Mick) to the drugged-out actor (Aiden) to the adulterous but successful director (Richard) and so on. Hollywood hasn't changed much over the years and so trite roles seem just right. Collins obviously knows of what she writes, and that's nice for the reader, to know that there is some authenticity behind the author's words. She paces this book real well, revealing a little of the main characters' backgrounds every so often, leaving Joey and Richard until the end almost, so there's always a new surprise around the corner. The culmination of the story leaves something to be desired: a "drop off the cliff," as it were, like Ms. Collins couldn't quite figure how to end everything. She just does it all at once. There are some other implausibilities, like Richard turning his life around (from homocide) to become a famous director, having learned the craft from a Mexican director who made him watch old movies. If you could learn to direct by watching old movies.....well, it just doesn't seem plausible. Anyway, on whole, this book will hold your interest. It's not high brow literature, as another good fella pointed out on this website, but it helps to pass the time and, who knows? Maybe we can even learn a little something. Diximus.

  3. this book did keep my interest, but i didnt feel the same chemistry between the two main characters as i felt in jackie's other books, i dont think that Joey is a likable character, i kept going back and forth on liking him or not. not her best but i still enjoyed reading it.

  4. For a Jackie Collins novel, Thrill! is actually of a lot of fun. If you can let yourself go and not concentrate too much on the less than good writing style you should enjoy this novel. The main problem with the novel is that the characters are a little wooden and a rehash of former, better written, characters from previous novels. That being said, if you like Hollywood sizzle and escapist fiction (and I do), then this novel, like many of Collins' novels, is a fun read. If there is one thing Collins can do it's give us an insiders view of Hollywood. While what she writes may seem far-fetched, all you have to do is watch Entertainment Tonight or E! to see that she's not too far off from the truth. As to character development, Collins does a good enough job with Lara Ivory and Joey Lorenzo that you want everything to work out for them; !!SPOILER!! and with all Jackie Collins novels, it does work out with the help of some improbable events. It's obvious that I liked this novel, so you might be wondering why I would give it only three stars. Well, Collins may be a fun novelist to read, but she can never be confused with a "great novelists," but that's OK. I don't read Collins for great fiction, I read it for fun, and fun only gets three stars in my book.

  5. I was offended by the hero's behavior. I found him to be very unlikable....and since the heroine was so gah-gah over him I lost interest in her welfare too. Wonder why people think so much degrading behavior is entertaining or captivating. I didn't cheer for anybody in this book. However, I give it two stars because the setting is so far removed from "everyday life" that it may be a good escape for some.

5 comments about Deadly Embrace.
  1. Jackie Collins' provacative and controversial novels are legend. She dedicates this one to: "all those who lost their lives in the American tragedies on September 11, 2001, and to the incredible bravery and tenacity of the firemen, policemen, and emergency workers who toiled far and above the call of duty. New York, Washington, and in the skies. Heroes and heroines every one."

It's in the genes, like father, like daughter -- raunchy characters from the mob, murderers, strip club owners, adultresses, and corrupt casino employees in Las Vegas. From the east coast to the west coast, they can't outrun their inner and actual demons. Persuing passion and fulfillment wherever they find themselves in sleasy clubs or glamorous settings, mainly they're out for revenge, money, and power. Two deaths in the family, who will be next?

With titles like THE BITCH, THE STUD, and THE LOVE KILLERS, this is both prequel and sequel to LETHAL SEDUCTION. She is a busy writer with a fanciful and vivid imagination.

  2. So far I have completed about 7 of Jackie Collin's novels and this one was by far the most entertaining. I love how she mingles, sex, hate, murder, etc. It is captivating -- I did not want to put this book down and the end did not disappoint. A must read.

  3. This book reminded me of some of Jackie Collins earlier works....and because I had not read one of her novels in a long time, I was pleased to see that she has a lot of talent and weaves a good tale.

In Deadly Embraces, Collins tells the love story of Michael Castelli (a part time mobster, turned multi-billionare playboy) and Dani Castle (ex-Vegas Showgirl). Their romance, which spanned over 30 years is reviewed and we see their heartaches, relationships with other people, marriages to other people, birth of their children and various other life experiences.

The novel begins with Michael's beloved daughter, Madison taken hostage at a restaurant, while Michael's past comes to haunt him. Everything is not what it seems and we soon learn that revenge or retribution is a dish best served cold.

  4. Enjoyable book, received book quickly after ordering. Book in excellent condition.
Had been unable to find book in local bookstores

  5. I listened to the audio version of this book. The reader spoke clearly and the story wraps up your mind in entertainment. While a part of a series, I heard this book only and it stood alone. The author weaves Michael and Dani's lives and love affair in a time-shifting novel filled with crime, sex, and secrets. You care about the characters and find their colorful lives delicious to listen too. Once you start listening, you'll want to hear the story all the way through.
