5 comments about Bible Eyewitness Collector's Set (Adventures in Odyssey).
- Excellent stories! I was afraid they might be a bit boring, but not a bit. Even pre-teen children and adults are riveted. Great value (15 hours) for the money. If you want good, wholesome, valuable stories, buy this set.
- These are the best audio cds around for children. I bought these to help continue introducing Bible stories to my children. An AWESOME resource.
- My children (currently ages 5 and 2) love Adventures in Odyssey and this is a great set to have. While there may be some little bits in the stories that are not entirely biblical, for the most part these are very informative and fun. The stories have even pointed out things to me - parts of stories that I may have not noticed before. This is such a great deal for a good set containing many hours of stories, all in the fun style of Adventures in Odyssey. Although at 5 and 2 my children don't necessarily grasp everything, they do enjoy the stories and do get some out of it (especially the 5 year old). They like to have the stories going while they play or eat (all day long if I will let them).
- My girls ages 8 and 10 love to go to sleep listening to these. All of the Odyssey CD's have been good, but the Bible Eyewitness has had an incredible impact on them. My 8 year old has learned so many Bible stories that when we pick up the children's Bible to read, most of the time she interupts at the beginning of the reading and says "I know this story, this is what will happen" and proceeds to tell me the whole story. I have just been amazed. Wonderfully animated voices and easy to follow yet detailed stories keep her begging for one each night. We have had the Odyssey series in general for years now. They still love them and these CD's are part of their bedtime ritual. However, my eight year old just started listening to this particular set of the Bible Eyewitness and already has learned so much. You simply cannot go wrong with this set for ages six and up. A story or two may have something that because it is dramatized so well, can be a bit scary for my younger daughter so I would say ages six and up. This is only so in a couple stories. In summary, all of the Adventures in Odyssey series' are great but the Bible Eyewitness has really proved to be a teaching tool as well. If you want your kids to really know their Bible stories and to be entertained, this is the series for you! I have new ones waiting for their Christmas stockings this year and they will be excited to see them!
- I've been a huge fan of "Adventures in Odyssey" ever since I was 9 years old. I am 26 now. This radio drama enspired me to become a Christian.
The "Bible Eyewitness" collection contains some of the Odyssey team's best work. With professional actors, brilliant sound effects, and witty dialogue, biblical accounts come vibrantly to life. Here are just a few of the gems you'll encounter in this set:
1. "The Imagination Station." This unforgettable episode tells the story of Digger Digwillow, a boy who refuses to read his Bible because he thinks its boring. Mr. Whitaker has invented a new machine, "The Imagination Station," which transports Digger back in time to the events of Jesus' death and resurrection.
2. "Bernard and Esther." This episode is one of my favorites. Bernard Walton, Odyssey's resident window-washer, relates the story of Esther to Robin and Melanie Jacobs in a compelling and exciting manner. Bernard's seemingly brusque manner cannot conceal his loving heart, and he whets the two girls' appetite for more Bible adventures.
3. "The Marriage Feast." This episode is a retelling of the Parable of the Marriage Feast, located in the Book of Matthew, Chapter 24. The story is both humorous and thoughtprovoking.
4. "B-TV Envy." This episode emphasizes the dangers of one of Satan's most distructive tools. By retelling Cain and Abel's story as a talk-show, Naboth's Vineyard as a police procedural, and David and Bathsheba as a cartoon, the Odyssey team grabs the attention of kids and adults alike.
These episodes barely scratch the surface of this exceptional collection. Please give the show a chance because it is an excellent teaching tool to use with kids. God bless.

4 comments about The Shadow: Knight of Darkness (Classic Radio Suspense).
- I really like the reproductions! They are very clear (maybe too clear...no static) and very enjoyable. Shipping time was also very good. I received them within a few days.
- It was great to hear some new Shadow shows. I never even saw the 2 new shows on any previous lists. The 2 things I didn't like was 1) the packaging. I don't like all the CDS in 1 pile. You have to pull all the CDs out if you want to listen to the ones in the bottom. I prefer when they are in sleeves. 2) "Terrible Legend Of Crownsshield Castled" had the syndicated soundtrack, not the original score. I have the one with the original score, so why couldn't they remaster that copy?
- Perfect for my father, we use to listen to the Shadow all the time so it is great to have it on CD.
- I have listened to the "Shadow" radio shows via KTRH radio (Houston) when they broadcast these shows on weekend nights. When KTRH stopped these broadcasts I missed them and wanted to order them on CDs. My recent purchase of the 9 CD set of the Shadow has provided very enjoyable listening in the evening. Amazon offered the best price and quick processing and shipping so I could quickly again start enjoying this old radio series. I can't wait to order my next set of old radio show CDs from Amazon.com.

5 comments about The Mighty Boosh: The Complete BBC Radio Series.
- The Mighty Boosh are taking off in the US, finally. Anyone curious to why should buy this cd of the radio series. They are original, imaginative, funny, well not funny..hysterically funny.
This is a great example of the best comedy duo out there.
- The Mighty Boosh Radio Series is actually a great place to start if you haven't seen the show yet. The storyline if there is such a thing here is fleshed out a little better with the radio version and it allows you to visualize it yourself. I found it to be a combination of a Ricky Gervais podcast with a JACK FLANDERS ZBS radio play, and that for me is a GREAT find. Bizarre humor, metaphysical situations and outlandish theories all combine for pure entertainment. I have since purchased the TV show which is an obvious must have but this 3 disc set really makes it the complete 10 disc special. Even the jokes that repeat between the 2 series vary and hold up well. Essential inanity.
- My son introduced me to The Mighty Boosh last year, knowing that I am a fan of British Comedy. After watching the episodes on Adult Swim, we bought the DVD's, The Mighty Book Of The Boosh, and the CD's. Each item gives you a little bit more than you get on the show, but not much that is new. In fact, the CD's are from recordings that were made on BBC Radio, and are the seeds that become the show in later years. Much like the show, the CD's have similar story lines to the first season and include all of the major characters and songs, but also has some unique twists and turns as well. If you like the show, you will enjoy the CD's also. My son and I both feel it is worth having, but don't expect a ton of unique story lines. Good fun.
- I wasn't sure what to expect with these - I love the TV show, but wasn't sure how I would enjoy an audio-only presentation. Amazingly, they pull it off beautifully. Of course, because I have seen the TV show and own the DVD, when I hear the audio I can imagine the scenes pretty well. Not sure how I would feel if I had never seen any of the visuals. But if you have seen the show, I highly recommend this.
- Frst I want to say that I give the Boosh all 5 stars but the reason I give it only 3 here is becasue the CDs are flawed. Listening to them, they are fine but when I ripped them so that I could listen to them on my mp3 player, the info was incorrect. Both CD 1 and 2 show that they contain episodes 3 and 4. CD 3 doesn't even have the titles and comes up as a soundtrack. The first one I received actually had episodes 3 and 4 on both CDs 1 and 2. I returned them, got a replacment in less then one day (impressive). I was also disappointed that there was no booklet with the CDs becasue I was pretty sure there was one with the first relaease on CD (maybe in the UK).

5 comments about Humor: Stories from the Collection More News from Lake Wobegon.
- I love to give these collections of monologues to folks who are experiencing a long recovery from surgery or undergoing medical treatment. The monologues are funny to listen to, and after they have listened to them a time or two, just hearing Garrison Keillor's soothing voice has a calming effect. The stories from Lake Wobegon are the best sleeping potions available--and there are no side effects other than falling asleep with a smile on your face.
- This CD is great for a long drive, or long flight, it is entertaining and better than a book on tape. It can be a little boring at times.
- This is not only funny, and I mean at times very funny. It was relaxing and interesting. It held my 19 year old daughters attention and that was nice to be able to share something our whole family could enjoy. The stories are something we all could relate to. Rare
- Some of Keillor's funniest News From Lake Wobegon moments, perfect for anyone new to the writer's work and a welcome addition to every die-hard fan's Prairie Home Companion collection.
- Amazon's description was so vague I had to rely on reviews for content. Unfortunately, the reviews were based on the cassettes, not the CD, and the cassette contained the story I sought, but the CD did not. Poor product description on Amazon's part. I'll not be buying from Amazon again soon.

5 comments about Sherlock Holmes: A Baker Street Dozen.
- The Sherlock Holmes: A Baker Street Dozen cd-set is an excellent reproduction of the 1954 BBC radio series. The stories are told in a way that is faithful to the original stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. There are 13 stories on 6 CD's, so the story lengths are ideal for even relatively short car trips.
The programs feature John Gielgud as Holmes and Ralph Richardson as Dr. Watson. In a long stage, radio, TV, and film career, Richardson appeared in Long Day's Journey Into Night, Our Man In Havana [Non-US Format, PAL, Region 2, Import] and Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes to name three. Orson Welles appears in a couple of the stories as Dr. Moriarty.
Gielgud is so good that the listener 'hears' Holmes and not Gielgud. Richardson carries off Watson to perfection portraying him as Doyle intended: Holmes' intelligent companion and assistant.
If you enjoy Doyle, you should check out the superb Exploits and Adventures of Brigadier Gerard (New York Review Books Classics) and The White Company.
- The item arrived quite promptly and it was shrink-wrapped and was a new product. I am quite satisfied with this transaction and I would use this seller again.
- I did enjoy this, but it wasn't quite what I expected. I guess it's different when you listen to it all at once, instead of once per week, like it probably was on the radio.
- If you love Sherlock Holmes as we do, then you'll adore Sir John Gielgud's rendition of him on this audiobook. His voice is perfect for the role of the hero; his sidekick, Watson, is admirably portrayed by Sir Ralph Richardson. The two of them together provide an entertaining & memorable evening's worth of enjoyment!
- I first listened to this audio book set a while ago. I definitely knew who Sherlock Holmes was but had never read any of the stories or watched an entire movie about him. I always figured that the stories would be boring and hard to follow. These audio books showed me that I was wrong. As I listened to these I fell deeply in love with the Sherlock Holmes concept and then proceeded to read all of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original Sherlock Holmes novels and stories and I also read "The Lost World" and "White Company" by him. For me, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle became the author for whom everything he laid his pen to turned to gold.
I've seen different presentations in different medias of Sherlock Holmes since I listened to these audio books and this audio show did the best at capturing the spirit of the original novels. John Gielgud does the voice of Sherlock Holmes, Ralph Richardson does the voice of Watson and Orson Welles has a brief appearance as the villain Moriarty. One of the great things about a radio show is that you don't have to cast actors who look like the character, so looks have no influence on who is cast. John Gielgud doesn't look like Sherlock Holmes, but this doesn't matter since it is only his voice that appears in the program.
These audio books are pleasant and calming to listen to and when I turn them on, I feel like I'm in the late 1800s. I highly recommend them and hope others will enjoy them as much as I have.

5 comments about The Hiding Place (Radio Theatre).
- We've listened to many Focus on the Family audio dramatizations and they never fail to disappoint. This one, like the others, is excellent.
- I came across this special treat and was very excited to have found it. I grew up reading The Hiding Place and watching the 1975 film based on the book. This audio drama was an excellent addition to my collection. The actors are amazing and the score is beautiful and haunting. The story itself is made even more powerful through the sound effects. I highly reccomend this item for anyone, whether believe or non-believer. It holds a very important message for all of us.
- Outstanding audio-drama of the true story of Christian Corrie ten Boom, underground leader in Holland. Story begins with her life in Holland and takes you through her Nazi capture and imprisonment in concentration camps. When she is released, she overcomes the odds and rises up to bring healing and hope first through her center for peace (set up after the war to help former prisoners heal) and then as an inspiring international speaker. I stayed up most of the night with headphones on and tears streaming down my face. Life can be so rich. Yes, a bit religious, but not dogma; it's so much more.
- The story of Corrie Ten Booms family and their devotion to God and love for His people is truly inspiring and life changing.
- wonderful! great! helps get reluctant readers exposed to good literature. well done. all ages enjoy.

5 comments about Younger Next Year: A Man's Guide to Living Like 50 Until You're 80 and Beyond.
- Great information. Makes a ton of sense. Wordy at times. Something I plan on trying to follow the rest of my life.
- This book, along with some prodding from my doctor and results that show both to be correct, has inspired me to take the actions described in the book. If I do half of what they suggest my life will change drastically. It's been a long time since I've been on the road or the water with anything that didn't have a motor. So biking and paddling will be a huge change. I've already lost 5 pounds just implementing one rule. I've also dusted off and fired up the treadmill after years of neglect. I fully intend to live my next 30 years in great shape and I've told my doctor I have no intention of living out of a pillbox for the next thirty. Before reading this book, I was resigned to facing the fact that the next 30 years would be spent in declining health with prescription after prescription being added to the daily regimen. This book dispels those myths but don't expect easy fixes. This book is about truly changing your life and your habits. My only regret was buying the book on CDs. I'm already wanting to go back to the book for reference.
- This book is a hoot! Not only does it provide great information about living a healthier life, but the author's sense of humor is evident. I found myself chuckling at his tongue-in-cheek comments. But on a more serious note, I've always asserted that education is a powerful tool to motivate change. As a nurse, I appreciate knowing the physiology behind the advice. And he takes complicated physiology and makes it user-friendly. You need a copy of it on your shelf -- AFTER you've learned what it has to teach.
- If you are serious about staying fit and well with an eye towards healthy longevity, this book is a must read.
- I love this book! I am a 59 yr old male, who woke up one day and found himself at 312 lbs, pre-diabetic, depressed, and definitely not looking forward to the future. After spending over $500 on other exercise books I finally found one that speaks to me. I don't care about washboard abs, I just want to be able to get up out of a chair easily. I don't care about big biceps or massive pecs, I want to be able to work easily and comfortably in the yard, go dancing with my wonderful wife. Most importantly, I want to be healthy. This book talks to just that goal. The authors do a wonderful job preaching about exercise. At my age, and whatever age you are now, exercise is mandatory. This book will teach you about exercise and what you need to do, how to do it, and why. I started an exercise program (yet, again) that just happened to follow what the authors recommend. I have lost 27 lbs since Jan 2010, dropped 6% body fat, and 6 inches off my waist. (I need a new belt!, Yeah!!). I am 42 lbs lighter than I was a year ago. I fully expect to beat the pre-diabetes diagnosis this year. Again, I love this book. Why did it take so long for me to find it. Read this. It will change your life!!

3 comments about Church People: The Lutherans of Lake Wobegon (Prairie Home Companion).
- For his take on "Church People," Garrison Keillor has collected some of the best Lutheran bits from A Prairie Home Companion. There are songs, several "New from Lake Wobegon" accounts, skits and other bits of humor, all related in some way to the Lutherans Keillor characterizes as dour makers of hot dishes who are filled with cold country guilt. It's great for a long ride across Kansas in November and other times you need to fill up silent time and space. This is one of his best collections in recent years. Good listening even for Methodists and other more optimistic sorts.
- We recently traveled a long distance for Thanksgiving. Church People provided hours of entertainment. There is a wide variety of selections on this collection, all fun to listen to.
- I heard one track on the radio at Christmas and had to get this CD. It was the one on the mythical church organists. I expect to have a lot of fun playing this for friends and family. I am Baptist, not Lutheran, but I still find this a funny CD. No one is made fun of, he just points out the foibles of human nature.

5 comments about The Postmistress.
- Books about life on the American home front during WW2 (or in this case in the two years preceding it) often center on war production, rationing, government service, and other specific subjects. Susan Blake's novel concerns more the feelings and thoughts of those left behind. There are three women at the heart of Blake's story. One is the young (and new) wife of a doctor who feels drawn to serve in London during the blitz. He leaves her behind in their Cape Cod home as he goes off to war. Also in the small village is the postmistress, who is in charge of the in-coming and out-going mail. Both women, like most of the other residents listen to radio reports from London by such broadcasters as Edward R Murrow and members of his team. One of Murrow's collegues is an American woman named Frankie, who broadcasts about everyday life in London during the Blitz as well as special reports on the atrocities being committed in countries under German occupation. It is Frankie's broadcasts which have inspired the young doctor to volunteer in London. Frankie and the doctor eventually meet in London - in a bomb shelter - and the repercussions of that meeting reverberate back to the quiet Cape Cod community.
There's not a lot of action in Blake's book, other than normal wartime goings-on. The real "action" is that what goes on between the three women who are finally united in the Cape Cod town. It's a sad, yet hopeful story. I'm sure WW2 produced many such stories, and many such heroines.
- I have to disagree with so many who have panned this book. Although it was a little difficult getting past the first few chapters, I'm glad I stuck with it and fell into the melody of Ms. Blake's style of writing. In other words it became easy to absorb and enjoy. I think she really has a gift with her prose. Yes, there wasn't a lot of depth going into her characters but I don't think that was needed - the story was really 1941 and that time in history where everyone's lives changed one way or another.
- Iris James, the postmistress of Franklin, Massachusetts observes all that is going on in town. Not that she would talk. She holds it all in tightly, never disclosing what she observes. Emma Trask arrives to marry the young doctor who has taken over the practice of Dr. Lowenstein. Alone in the world Emma hopes to find home with Will Fitch. As daily life moves on, both women find themselves turning to the voice of Frankie Bard, American radio gal. Frankie is over in Europe with Edward R Murrow and others, reporting from England as German bombs fall. Frankie, like the United States, is trying to remain separate from the approaching madness. The very separate lives of these three women begin to draw closer and gradually intertwine. One finds herself committing an act she never thought possible. Another is eyewitness to horrors she could have never imagined. The third waits for the love to return. These three are drawn into the ever growing madness of war and all pay a price. Each must draw on personal strength and strength she has unknowingly gained from the others.
Sarah Blake has composed a spellbinding story that draws the reader in and holds them till the end. Her characters are so much more than first revealed, as layers are added. Never forced or false, they are the driving force of this story. The horrors of the war in Europe are also gradually revealed and the reader has the gradual recognition that no one will remain neutral or untouched... This is storytelling at its best. When finished with the book, I was reluctant to put it down, reluctant to lose touch with these characters
- This felt more like an outline for a novel than a finished product. The characters were broad sketches instead of fully fleshed characters that captured my attention. It was just a bunch of stereotypes without heart "intrepid female war correspondent" "loving wife"
An editor and a second draft might have made this worth the read.
- I'm a re-reader. Books that I love I will read several times. Not this one. The most I can say for this book is that I finished it, although it was at times painful. I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters; I'm glad, because nothing good happens to any of them.
A very sad and slow read. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
