  1. Ok so hands down this one has the best ending so far IMHO.
This makes the tenth for me in four weeks'ish these books are like chocolate. Thanks Janet

  2. The author has a good thing going. Her novels are fun to read. I like to follow the on-going story of the heroine's life.

  3. the stephanie plum series is the best ive read in a long time....i cant stop reading! this one was no exception....these are the only books i laugh out loud to. reads very well on the kindle.

  4. I enjoy the Plum series but this was the first time that Stephanie out and out annoyed me. She is being targeted for death by a nasty gang and she still chafes under the protective measures Joe and Ranger attempt to provide. There is being independent and there is being stupid and Stephanie came across as plain old stupid in this one.

I'm also getting a bit tired of Grandma and Lula - they are bordering on cartoon characters as opposed to lovable eccentrics. Lula held up better for me than Grandma, but we need to learn more about their characters. Lula always carrying a gun and Grandma tagging along is not development.

I fall on the Ranger side when it comes to Stephanie's relationships. I like Morelli, but I think Ranger accepts Stephanie for who she is as opposed to Joe who wants to change her. I thought with Stephanie staying at Ranger's apartment we would see more movement with their relationship, but nothing.

And I can't even talk about the ending and Sally saving the day - it was ridiculous. Flat out ridiculous.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the next one...

  5. I loved this one. The plot was really suspensful and kept me laughing all the way through this read. Stephanie was bolder in this novel than she has been in the past and the story line was unpredictable. Could barely put this one down!

  1. Thank you. Cannot go wrong with any of the Janet Evanovich books!!Service fast and as expected.

  2. Janet Evanovich is hilarious. Her characters are real people with real quirks, but this book almost goes over the line, on occasion. I don't consider myself a prude, but I share many audio books with a co-worker, and I won't share this one, as the explicit sexual dialogue is too racy. Be careful who you allow to join you while listening.

  3. Ivan Rasmussen has a 19th century schooner that he charters for short cruises during the warm months of the year. He has a regular crew that he works with, but the person he ended up with in his galley was an acquaintance Stephanie Lowe, and she knew nothing about cooking with an old wood stove. It turns out his normal cook, Lucy, decided to get married, and Steph was covering her shifts in exchange for plumbing services provided by the new groom. Ivan and Steph felt an immediate attraction, but there were many reasons they couldn't get involved. The main reason was that Steph had already thrown herself at him, and he turned her down. Then there was the fact that Ivan didn't want a committed relationship - he is a direct descendent of a pirate, and Steph was just getting on her feet after being an undercover cop for years. There was also the issue that Steph just purchased Ivan's family home - Haben. Who knew working this one-week could last so long?

Steph was getting Haben ready to turn into a B&B when Ivan turns up. He makes her a proposition. He needs a place to stay for the off-season and she needs a handyman. His real agenda is to seduce her, and make her realize she can't live without him. How far would he go to get his beloved family home Haben back? When a corpse is found and makes appearances, Steph starts to wonder.

Entertaining and funny. A lot of laugh out loud moments!

  4. I'm a huge Evanovich fan, but I didn't even finish listening to this one. Stick to the number series.

  5. I bought this to listen to as we traveled. I like this
author very well, and the CD worked very well. I am very

  1. Janet Evanovich is a wonderful author! listen or reading for that matter, you can picture everything going on in her stories. she describe the moment in great detail. I would recomend her books to any adult (books have an adult context to them. world rate it at least PG but NOT an R rated book)

  2. This is a 6 CD audio book. It was really quite terrible. I have faithfully read Ms. Evanovich's number books, but this was not up to par at all.

  3. Okay, so this is reading "light", but I have no problem with that. Many times I just want a lighthearted romance with no deep analysis or problems to weigh me down. If you just want a little escapism, a good story or a listen in the car, you will enjoy this audio book. I would say this is fun chick lit, so enjoy! Power Path to Love

  4. Daisy Adams is a very busy lady, but she thinks it may be her lousy time management. When she gets up in the morning she delivers papers, then is a crossing guard to protect children on their way to school. She has a temporary job at WZZZ Radio Station doing traffic reports, after which she waitresses at Rogers Steakhouse part-time, and then she moonlights as a taxi cab driver! In her spare time, she wrote a doggie cookbook called Bones for Bowser and has been asked to write another. On top of all her other commitments, she is working on her doctorate in geriatric psychology, and has an internship at a nursing home. Her little brother Kevin is also staying with her while their parents are out of town.

Steve Crow is the owner of WZZZ, and although he hired Daisy to do Bowser spots on Mondays, he had really not noticed her until he hired her to do the traffic reports. Now that he has he wants her bad, but she has no time for anything or anyone. Daisy does need a dog to do taste tests on her doggie meals, so Steve does the only thing he can think of to be near her - he gets a dog named Bob. When Daisy unintentionally hits a drug dealer with her car while doing the traffic report, she is targeted for retribution. Steve has fallen for Daisy, and takes it upon himself to protect her.

This was a fun read. Steve and Daisy have chemistry, are good together, and Bob is just loveable. Who wouldn't be absolutely smitten with a dog that requires pop tarts as motivation to go running in the morning?

  1. loved it! i actually laughed out loud this book is more than worth the read!

  2. Stephanie Plum has hit some hard times. She's lost her job as a buyer of cheap lingerie, fallen behind on her bills and has had her beloved car repossessed. She's got moldy cheese and a stale loaf of bread in the fridge and she has hawked most of her furniture and major appliances to pay the rent and procure a P.O.S Nova. Stephanie doubts things could get much worse. She's about to be proven wrong.

In a stroke of dumb luck, or perhaps, an evil twist of fate, Stephanie lands a job at her uncle Vinnie's bonding company as a bounty hunter. It's Stephanie's duty to bring in FTA's in exchange for 10% of the bond. When Stephanie is informed about an FTA worth 10 grand, Stephanie is all over it, until she discovers the FTA is none other than Joe Morelli, Stephanie's childhood nemesis, who taught her how to play train at the age of six and deflowered her behind an éclair case 10 years later. She may have clipped him in the leg with her dad's Buick three years later, but thoughts of Morelli still rankle. What follows is an amusing, entertaining and at times, pretty sexy man hunt.

Stephanie isn't brilliant, but she certainly isn't dumb, more hilarious because of her dumb luck than snide humor, she's a pretty endearing heroine. I enjoyed the time spent with One for the Money and find myself wanting to dive in to book two as soon as possible. Great way to spend a Sunday.

  3. This author was recommended to me, and I was not disappointed. She's created a main character that I can identify with, an exciting plot line with a lot of humor, and left me wanting more. I'm soon going to order the next book in the series.

  4. I've been seeing Evanovich books for years and not even once was I compelled to give them another look or find out if they were worth my time. I kind of regret it now.

This 1st book in the series about a female bounty hunter set in New Jersey ethnic neighborhood was quite a pleasure to read. The book was written about 15 years ago and definitely felt dated in many ways, especially in regards to "fashion" - spandex shorts, big hair, hoop earrings and all that. But the humor remained fresh, Plum/Morelli dynamic duo was a lot of fun to follow, and the mystery involving Hispanic and Italian gangsters, prostitutes, a crazy boxer and drugs was an original one.

I am not rushing into reading the 2nd book in the series, mostly because I don't want to overdose on them and also there is no rush for me to get caught up on this series, there is like a million books in it. But I will definitely check the next book out whenever I am in a mood for a fast-paced funny mystery.

  5. This is the 1st book of the series (to date there are 15). Stephanie is our heroine and she is one of the best female leads I have read in a very very very long time. Poor Steph is divorced, she has been laid off from her job, her car has been repossessed and she is low on furniture because she had to sell it to pay her rent. At first glance, you may think Stephanie is a loser, but she's not - she's honest and pays her bills (as best as she can) even if that means she has nothing to sit on. Poor Stephanie even mooches meals and laundry from her parents.

Stephanie goes to work for her cousin Vinnie, a bailbondsman and mayhem ensues. For some reason, she thinks she is capable of apprehending criminals when her last job was in ladies lingerie. This is just too funny. Her first big case happens to be a man from her high school past and he is a cop who has been framed for murder. He also happens to be the man who took her virginity and she does not remember him too fondly.

After many mis-steps, she finally gets her man - sort of. This book is funny, laugh out loud funny and a very quick easy read. I couldn't wait to get to the next installment. Janet Evanovich has a real winner here. I have since read all 15 books and I have loved them all, so I won't critique each one individually. The arsenal of characters grows and you really begin to think you know these people.

Give these books a try - you won't be disappointed.

  1. Lorelei King is not very good as narrator. She is certainly not as good as CJ Critt. Lorelei King's voice just isn't right for most of the characters. Every time she says "Stephanie said" or "Ranger said" etc, it stands out and is annoying. CJ Critt has a way of saying those things but disguising it at the same time.

  2. You never have to worry if she's gonna be able to pull it off, this is laugh out loud funny and never disappointing

  3. Some of the poor reviews suggest that if this is your first Evanovich review, you might enjoy the book. Well, this is my first Evanovich book, and I was not at all enthralled. I couldn't finish it. Within the first 50 pages, it was patently obvious that this was a cliche-ridden, formulaic and repetitive installment of a well-known franchise, penned for profit.

  4. I had heard about this author, but never read her. Thank god for that. I tried to finish the first CD of 11 or 12. But it was too awful. What a piece of junk.

    bill

  5. Stephanie Plum is tired of her job as a bounty hunter. It's dangerous, she's always stressed-out, and well, she just thinks it's time for something new.

So she quits. And then starts a series of nonsensical jobs (for her), discovering along the way that trouble finds her, even when she's not a bounty hunter! There are car bombings, garage bombings, and an "accident" involving a car running down her boyfriend Joe Morelli (a cop, no less!).

In the midst of ordinary life, she can't seem to catch an ordinary moment.

Even her sister's impending nuptials can't seem to "normalize" her.

So she finds herself back in the game of pursuing the bad guys, figuring out the mysteries, until finally, just about the time she almost gets herself killed, the answers are lining up. And she has it all figured out. But is it too late?

This is my first Stephanie Plum novel, and now I am hooked. I love her feisty personality, how she openly exposes her flaws and foibles, and how she describes her relationships--and her fear of commitment.

Written in the first person narrative, Eleven on Top (A Stephanie Plum Novel) immediately draws the reader into Stephanie's world, where one is very much present for the rollicking adventures and hilarious moments that define her life.

  1. as always, Janet Evanovich writes an active story line, that will make you laugh out loud. I always feel like I am right there in her stories. Entertaining, never a dull moment.

  2. Janet has done it again! This was very good and I especially enjoyed the CD version because I could listen every morning on my way in to work. Excellent!

  3. Loved the books and stories. What a great way to spend a long commute.
The only problem was I had 2 of the same CDs for one story and was missing 1 CD for another story.

  4. IThe first book Full Bloom was missing disc 6 which just happens to have the ending wrap up. I can't tell you how I liked it because I don't know what happened. The second book Full Scoop had 2 copies of disc 6. Errors like these make listening most frustrating.

  1. This item was for a present and it came good as new and ready to wrap. Thank You!

  2. Score one more for my wife! After reading the Patterson book, she devoured this one and came back for more! An insatiable reader, she is! Sent her to Nirvana!

  3. I've read all of this series up to 13 and I really feel like it isn't what it used to be, but it's still fun, put-brain-in-park reading. I remember earlier in the series when I would be guffawing on a regular basis while reading. Now, I chuckle from time to time but it's definitely not the gut-buster type of experience it used to be.

Used to be, I got most of my laughs from Grandma Mazur and Lula, but in this book it was more reactions from Stephanie's Mom & Dad to something Grandma Mazur did or said, or from Morelli & Ranger to something Stephanie did.

I found books 14 and 15 on sale so I am going to continue reading. I just don't run to the bookstore immediately upon publication anymore to buy them."

  4. It was great working with this seller. I received my item in a very timely fashion. Would definitely purchase from them again!

  5. I can't type a lot so just to say received in good condition and in a timely manner

  1. In Fearless Fourteen, Janet Evanovich recaptures her groove and the belly laughs are back. As usual the plot involves Stephanie trying to figure out some mystery while also collecting people who skip on their bond dates to get enough money to live off. This time we are treated to the hilarious description of a 80+ year old man who never wears pants, and a younger woman with a monkey. The main plot line has to do with a ten year old bank robbery and finding the 9 million dollars that disappeared.

The main attraction of reading this series is to enjoy the interplay of Stephanie and her cohorts and the wild and wooly characters that surround her. As usual, she is caught a bit between her two paramours, although in this book Morelli is definitely the one with the upper hand. Lula is a constant presence and has her normal moments (can you believe that she and Stepahnie make Tank faint?) and Ranger, Connie, and the crew of the Trenton police department are all there, as are the Cluck-in-a-bucket location, and even Mooner comes back. The sight gags are fast and furious and it was not an unusual event for me to burst out laughing at particular descriptions or events.

If you are a Stepanie Plum fan, this book will make it to your shelf in no time. If you have never read the series, then this one will give you a good flavor of what it's all about, although you will definitely want to go back and read the earlier ones to understand what some of the interplay between the characters is about.

  2. Bought this for my daughter for Xmas. Unfortunately the autghor has written several new books in the series and I ordered the wrong one. Tried to contact seller thru Amazon to no avail. The seller did contact me asking for the order number which I provided. That is the last I heard. All I wanted to do was exchange this tome for the next in the series but I cannot get the seller to respond.

  3. As with all the Stephanie Plum novels, there is an element of predictability.....
But for those of us who are addicted to the series this is not a detriment, rather an asset. Each book makes me wish that I wasn't finished--when I am!....and makes me eager for the next installment! Accompanying Stephanie as she grows and develops--how well Janet Evanovich makes this happen--is part of the enjoyment. This book did not disappoint!

  4. I have read all the Stephanie Plum series of books, and I think Janet Evanovitch is selling out. She is trading formerly brilliant content for colorful characters. We all love Lula, but a little goes a long way. I loved the characters she brought in from time to time to help give some contrast to the intense subject matter. Now I don't feel Stephanie as a person anymore. She is simply the straight "man" for Lula and the sex object for Ranger. Morelli is no longer solid and steamy.

I guess Evanovitch has run out of ideas. I'm looking to see this series end pretty soon as I, as well as others, will probably stop buying the new editions.

    So sorry!

  5. This is probably the worst book of the series. After reading the first 12, I so excited to delve further into Stephanie's crazy life, her mixed feelings for both men in her life and the further development of Ranger's charcter. However 14 was dull, boring and absurd. Joe and Stephanie were bascially living together and we read about Joe cooking, Stephanie changing sheets, and both of them taking turns brining a kid to school ect that it was like reading about MY daily life. Not exactly the reason I read!!! I missed Ranger and thought the whole Brenda; crazy singer turned bounty hunter turned news anchor was too far into the relm of silly to be interesting. I missed reading about Stephanie on stake outs, people breaking into her apartment and Ranger rescuing her from danger....things that do not happen in my daily life!!!

  1. I really don't understand what the people who've been writing the negative reviews are expecting. If you want great literature, read War and Peace. If you want fun, light, hilarious insanity, then you can't do better than this and all the Stephanie Plum novels.

A plot synopsis would be a bit redundant in view of how many previous reviews contained synopses. I will say that I enjoyed having some emphasis on Lula, and definitely agree with those who compared the Lula-Grandma pairing to Lucy and Ethel.

I don't know if I really want the Joe-Ranger question to be resolved, although I am in favor of Stephanie's finally settling on Joe. In one novel Stephanie described Ranger as being "like smoke." I don't see him as a candidate for the long term.

The only thing I disliked about this book is how long I have to wait for the next one. Please, Janet, keep writing - I for one can promise you I'll keep reading!!

  2. This book was HORRIBLE. The story line was weak. I saw a lot of people complaining that the book was too much about Lula. In my opinion it is not that the book revolved too much around her as that fact that JE seems to go out of her way to make Lula seem like the most riduiculous person. Who wants to read page after page about a grown woman's flatulance? While Stephanie, Joe and Ranger all have many sides to their Character. The rest of the characters (especially Lulu) seem to have little to no depth. She does not give the slightest detail about any important points in her life. In 14 she was engaged (though in a pathetic way, befitting the pathetic nature of her character) in 15 she just "wasn't". No explaination, and no hint of emotion about it from her or her ex-fiance. If you are going to focus so much on a character, the charcter should be a person and more than a bad and offensive punchline.
Another reviewer said that Lula needs to die. I think that she could be a good character, but if JE is unwilling or unable to put the needed development into her, then fine, kill her off. It is better for her give her up than to let her live her literary life as a stupid joke.

  3. Stephanie Plum, I-Love-Lucy becomes a bounty hunter, has been getting herself into some seriously deadly binds and blowing up her vehicles for 14 straight books now. You can count on Janet Evanovich, she will always give you at least one death, many death threats, one cross dresser, several acts of unwanted nudity, a spandex clad oversized ex-prostitute, a car bomb, a hamster and two of the hottest men ever written in each and every book. You can bank on it. Only this time, the death, the death threats, the cross dresser, the car bomb all revolved around Lula- the spandex clad oversized ex-prostitute. It must have been a nice change for Stephanie who has almost died fourteen times now. The repetition in the series isn't a hindrance, it's a selling point since it's the most entertaining mix of circumstances. Evanovich always delivers and bless her heart, Stephanie always gets her man (maybe even two of them).

Lula witnesses the brutal murder of a television chef famous for his smoking hot barbecue sauce. When the killers find out that there was an eye witness to their dirty deed Lula becomes their next target. Any rational sane person would be scared witless and hiding out to save her ass but not our girl. She enters the barbecue sauce cook off that Chipotle (the chef) was suppose to enter in hopes of catching the murders who have a very nice one million dollar finders fee on their heads.

Stephanie and Morelli are not currently speaking to each other, having had a very heated discussion about peanut butter and what should be in it that lead to their most recent separation. Short on cash, Stephanie returns to Rangeman, the security service company owned by the mysterious, elusive DROP FREAKIN' DEAD SMOKIN' HOT Ranger, to do a little inside snooping. Several Rangeman accounts have been compromised and if he doesn't put a stop to the leaks fast, it could put a serious damper on his business.

Throw in a fireman in a Julia Child outfit with a dash of Grandma Mazur and you've got five hours of hysteria that might just upset your neighbors.

  4. Finger Lickin' Fifteen (Stephanie Plum Novels)

Okay... it's really hard to keep up the pace even for someone like Stephanie. Eventually you learn all the lessons you were meant to learn. I roared through 2, 3 and 4. Loved 5 and 6. Anyone have an all-time favorite? I can't remember which one it was, but Stephanie used Ranger's apartment as a hideout. Help me here. My salute to Stephanie is Alice Harte in my Kindle book: The Secret Diary of Alice in Wonderland, Age 42 and Three-Quarters. Alice would love to hang out Stephanie for a bit. The Secret Diary of Alice in Wonderland, Age 42 and Three-Quarters Barbara Silkstone

  5. A great addition to the series that feels like an actual stepforward instead of the perpetual motion machine it has been since book eight. For once it's not Steph in the hot seat, but her good pal Lula. Also Steph shows some real smarts in book 15, as opposed to a neverending stream of luck. It seems like she's really learning, but that learning doesnt stop things from being funny. My big con would be the treatment of Ranger, poor guy.
Sure it had some hokey parts, every Plum book does, but it feels like 15 showed a real sense of growth in characters that had been slowly regressing into parodies of themselves. I was glad to see a few differences.
