5 comments about Lethal Seduction.
  1. I've been an avid reader of Jackie Collins since her early days. Although all her novels are diverting, the newer efforts just seem a bit stale, as if the author is trying to re-create a hit formula. "Lethal Seduction" falls short of her other novels, the characters aren't as likeable and interesting. Also, what happened to Wes, Silver Anderson's husband? (Hollywood Husbands) He and Silver were perfect together and he's not even mentioned. Rafaella from "Rock Star" seems to have been written out of Kris Phoenix's life as well which is disappointing. To be honest, these days I pick up Collins's novels in the hope that they'll get better.

  2. I like Jackie Collins books for a light read on the beach. Her older books, the Lucky series, Hollywood Wives, and Hollywood Husbands I particularly liked. This is trashy, averagely written "literature", so I take it for what it is.

Although this book is fairly entertaining, it is inherently flawed. One thing Jackie Collins is good at is creating a variety of characters and bringing them all together in the end. She does that in all her books, and Lethal Seduction is no different. However, this book nowhere near measures up to her previous efforts. In fact, it almost feels like a duplicate of all her other books.

I'm so tired of all the women being the most beautiful thing on the face of the Earth. Sure, they may be famous, but not all famous people are beautiful! Second, all of her characters speak the exact same way. Some of them may speak a bit more slangy, but the vulgarity abounds from every character. I can't imagine some of these characters saying the things she has them say. All everyone does is have sex, and lots of it. Come on, how about some depth! The Gem character was ridiculous, yet another perfect and innocent wannabe actress. Dexter talks to her for five minutes, and he's in love? And he practically stalks her from Vegas and she doesn't think he's a nutcase?

I don't know...this book is good for a day at the beach, but don't expect anything groundbreaking, and don't expect anything different from any of her other novels.

  3. Once again I enjoyed this book tremendously. I also picked up a few pointers. This was my first Jackie Collins novel. I have read about eight more and still counting. For a first impression I was very impressed. Keep up the good work, we love it.

  4. It was a very interesting read, it had romance, drama, suspicions and more. it was a while since I read it but I highly enjoyed it, she'll leave you wanting more and with a lovely ending. The characters weren't predictable so thats good.

one more impotant thing: Since you'll love this book do not be tempted to get lethal seduction:the prequel-> deadly embrace which came after it, because it was Horrible!!! it felt as if she was rushing to make a dead line, and she repeated every single thing and focused mainly on michael. It was a very annoying book.

  5. I am a Jackie Collins fan and just embarked on a reading frenzy. I have ordered a lot of Jackie Collins' books and just completed two which I loved dearly. However, I am having a hard time reading this one. This has got to be the worst of Jackie. Save this for when you have nothing at all to do and even then --you will find the time to do something else. Not worth it.

  1. If your a Jackie fan than this book is for you. An awesome fun can't put it down beach read! The character outlines are amazing, its such a fun ongoing can't wait to find out what is going to happen next! Fun, Fun ,Fun definetly recommend this book

  2. Another rump through Hollywood land with not very exciting outcomes. Sure there is lot's of sex, a little romance and loads of airheads but all the above hardly make for compelling reading. The three main female characters, Shelby, Lola, and Cat are so plastic you think they would have the label Tupperware on their foreheads. It was a bit refreshing to see Collins try and inject some morality into this book ala the scene where Lola confronts her family in regards to her divorce but she quickly stepped back. Later, Lola's "bargain with God" was the most laughable plot line I've ever seen in a novel such as this one. I personally feel Lola should have gotten her just desserts but being a woman we couldn't have that. Shelby comes across as a weak version of Crystal Carrington and she might stand by her man but she looks like a fool through the whole thing. Cat was simply a subplot to fill up more pages since her character never really does anything and everything goes her way. As for the spice factor I would have to rate it mild say for Alegra now there was a character one can sink their teeth into. The ending was different then what Collins usually does and I didn't see it coming. In the end, Collins books are like boxes of chocolates; they are so good while eating them but they can also make you sick and put you off. A little indulgence though once in a while isn't bad. I have to say if this is what true Hollywood is like it sure makes you think. I wonder if real life actors think Collins is doing them a favour or tarnishing their reputations and the profession itself. Recommended for a quick read and for those who like soap operas. This book contains five CDs and Ms. Collins does the reading herself which in my opinion she should stop. Every female character sounds like a bimbo and every male one like a gangster from the Bronx.

  3. I really enjoyed this book. I've never read any Jackie Collins books that I can recall. It was entertaining and fun to read. Never dull or boring. I loved the 3 main characters. Cat was smart and sassy, Shelby was classy and admirable, and Lola was a true starlet diva. I enjoyed the little twists in the plot and the ending was a good one. I recommend it and will read more of her books.

  4. I'm such a sucker for a page turner and celebrity gossip. This book had both! I know that these aren't real celebrities, but it is such fun to read about them and not be able to put a book down.

This follows three main characters and their marriages...and divorces. There is cheating, scandal, drugs, passionate sex...and new romance. So much good stuff going on that you don't want to put it down.

This is 100% Jackie Collins and so good! If you love her books then you'll love this one too.

  5. As always, Jackie Collins has brought the world of the super sexy, super rich and super glamorous to us ordinary folks. I love how she gives us so many rich characters and so many inter acting plot lines. JUST TRY TO KEEP UP!! This book is yummy !!!!!!!!!!!

5 comments about Deadly Embrace.
  1. Jackie Collins' provacative and controversial novels are legend. She dedicates this one to: "all those who lost their lives in the American tragedies on September 11, 2001, and to the incredible bravery and tenacity of the firemen, policemen, and emergency workers who toiled far and above the call of duty. New York, Washington, and in the skies. Heroes and heroines every one."

It's in the genes, like father, like daughter -- raunchy characters from the mob, murderers, strip club owners, adultresses, and corrupt casino employees in Las Vegas. From the east coast to the west coast, they can't outrun their inner and actual demons. Persuing passion and fulfillment wherever they find themselves in sleasy clubs or glamorous settings, mainly they're out for revenge, money, and power. Two deaths in the family, who will be next?

With titles like THE BITCH, THE STUD, and THE LOVE KILLERS, this is both prequel and sequel to LETHAL SEDUCTION. She is a busy writer with a fanciful and vivid imagination.

  2. So far I have completed about 7 of Jackie Collin's novels and this one was by far the most entertaining. I love how she mingles, sex, hate, murder, etc. It is captivating -- I did not want to put this book down and the end did not disappoint. A must read.

  3. This book reminded me of some of Jackie Collins earlier works....and because I had not read one of her novels in a long time, I was pleased to see that she has a lot of talent and weaves a good tale.

In Deadly Embraces, Collins tells the love story of Michael Castelli (a part time mobster, turned multi-billionare playboy) and Dani Castle (ex-Vegas Showgirl). Their romance, which spanned over 30 years is reviewed and we see their heartaches, relationships with other people, marriages to other people, birth of their children and various other life experiences.

The novel begins with Michael's beloved daughter, Madison taken hostage at a restaurant, while Michael's past comes to haunt him. Everything is not what it seems and we soon learn that revenge or retribution is a dish best served cold.

  4. Enjoyable book, received book quickly after ordering. Book in excellent condition.
Had been unable to find book in local bookstores

  5. I listened to the audio version of this book. The reader spoke clearly and the story wraps up your mind in entertainment. While a part of a series, I heard this book only and it stood alone. The author weaves Michael and Dani's lives and love affair in a time-shifting novel filled with crime, sex, and secrets. You care about the characters and find their colorful lives delicious to listen too. Once you start listening, you'll want to hear the story all the way through.

  1. I had this book in my pile of books waiting to be read, don't know why I didn't get to it sooner. I loved all the characters in this book, I wanted so much for everyone to get what they wanted and the jerks to get what they deserve, the only complaint I have about this book is that the ending was to rushed but all in all a fun read.

    Happy Reading
    Lisa

  2. As a huge fan of Jackie Collins, I was eagerly awaiting this novel. It was written in her distinctive style, which has been imitated often. I was a tad disappointed that the plot strayed so far from the original Hollywood Wives tome, but was happy to renew my aquaintance with some old friends...er, charcters. Thought the slang was a lttle overdone, however. I'm 22, and swear I don't speak like that! Was a great read for a true Jackie Collins fan, and one I know I'll enjoy reading again.

  3. It may of been trashy, brainless, tawdry melodrama but I loved this book! Jackie takes all the stereotypes of Hollywood celebrities and throws them together into a glamor-packed soup of gossip and subplots! Like a 500-page tabloid! The characters are all true-to-form spoiled, self-obsessed divas. The goings on are appropriately scandalous. The many talents and many husbands, the wild rich kids, the gay followers, it's all here!

The perfect Hollywood novel it may not have much substance but since that's what's expected of its subjects it's just perfect!

  4. One of the reasons I've found Jackie Collins to be such an enjoyable author is that she creates memorable characters. Her novels, usually are loaded with characters that you'd like to know and those that you'd like to take down a few pegs.
Not so the case with HOLLYWOOD WIVES-THE NEXT GENERATION. The characters are boring, predictable, shallow, and totally not Jackie Collins.
Don't waste your money or your time.

  5. A Jackie Collins might be what I call a fluff book, but I do enjoy one now and again. Everyone needs a break not only from the stress of their lives, but also from the serious fiction novel you (I) may normally read.

Hollywood Wives, The New Generation was a good book to kick back with and unwind. With the normal twists and turns of a J.C. book: scandal, shockers, betrayals, revenge plots, love, lust, hate...this book keeps you flipping the pages till the exciting and rewarding end.

5 comments about L.A. Connections: Power, Obsession, Murder, Revenge (L.a. Connections).
  1. As always Jackie has written an excellent book. I'm waiting for her new release in July

  2. L.A. CONNECTIONS is actually 4 separate books combined into one paperback. Each segment reads as a separate book, as they were originally published as a 4-part serial.

The main story line throughout all 4 segments is a series of murders that affects in some way all the main characters. There is Kristin, the expensive call-girl who is trying to support her sister who is in a coma; there is Sally, the big chested super star who is really a down-to-earth simple gal who happened to become a celebrity; there is Madison, the journalist, who accidentally meets Sally and finds herself involved in the coverage of a murder; and a host of other fascinating characters, all bigger than life. And in between the murders there is plenty of sex, violence, and other trash that keeps the pace moving.

What I like about Jackie Collins books are the characters. They are never dull and are always living on the edge, no matter what their profession. L.A. CONNECTIONS was no exception. The problem with this book was that it read like 4 separate books, when i had been expecting one. It also seemed to have an abrupt ending as if Ms Collins wanted to get this book over with. This is not to say I didnt enjoy the book. I did, and it was fast reading from start to finish. But I think this book could have been better, if the ending was done right, and the 4 separate novels (Power,Obsession, Murder, and Revenge) were re-written to be published properly as a single book.

  3. I thought this books is pretty good. Since it was written to be 4 separate books what i didnt like was that in the beggining of everybooks she would talk about the one that i just finished. Overall her characters were well illustrated in my mind by the way that jackie collins had intended.

  4. I read a lot of Jackie Collins' books. The thing I like about her books is they are easy reads, entertaining about Hollywood and right to the point. I recommend this book. I had it read quickly and was entertained to the end.

  5. I loved this book. The ride was wonderful. I have read quite a few of Jackie's books and this one is definately among the top 5. You must read this one. FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

  1. The worst thing I can think of to say about Jackie Collin's books...They end. I am always left wanting more and this book was no exception. I find her books a great escape and then get mad because I have read them too fast and before I know it I am done with the book.
    Once again...Well done!!!

  2. I couldn't put the book down, this was one book that I have to say is worth the read. All the characters are well written and the story is full things that you can't wait to find out about. This is my first book by this author, and I am going to continue to read more.

  3. If you like Tales about the rich and famous and the lives of luxury that they lead, you'll like this book. If you're tired of reading about spoiled people who take no consequences for their own actions, then you won't like this book. As always, Jackie Collins is a great storyteller and this book is full of sex, lies and dirty dealings.

  4. I was concerned that I had "out grown" Jackie Collins, or lost my interest when her new book came out. BUT - WOW - she got me again! FABULOUS - FANTASTIC - I did not see any of it coming! Bravo! I fell in love all over again. Thanks for another great book!

  5. The Diamond family...

At the head of the family is Red Diamond, a selfish, controlling and filthy rich father..his three sons Jett, an ex druggie and a successful model in Italy, Max, a real estate broker and Chris, a Hollywood entertainment lawyer.

The Diamond family is far from being perfect. Red Diamond treats everyone including his three sons like trash. Chris is constantly busy with clients with ridiculous demands and he has a secret that could cause him to lose everything. Max is engaged to a wealthy girl name Amy, but when a murder hits home..he's the prime suspect. And Jett use to be an alcholic and druggie, but now that he is a model in Italy will his past come to haunt him?

Jackie Collins also features Liberty,a biracial wanna be singer who doesn't know who her father is and her mother Diahann..a ex jazz singer has a deep dark secret of her own.

Secrets, lies, murder, betrayal and sex make up exciting ingredients for Lovers and Players. This book kept my attention from the first page to the last. Jackie Collins is now one of my favorite authors!!!

There wasn't a boring moment in this book! Jackie sure does know how to tell a story

  1. I am a big Jackie Collins fan. I have been reading her books since I was a teenager. Lucky Santangelo was one of my favorite characters until this book. The reading was quick and I give three stars on the strength of me finishing. The book wasn't a total bust but it could have used more work.

Lucky is building another hotel in Las Vegas but as usual has drama surrounding her in terms of family and old enemies. The plot revolves around Lucky's daughter Max being kidnapped, her annoying best friend Venus, and finally Anthony Bonar an enemy from the Bonatti family. Other characters that we have come to know are also brought back but their appearances don't provide additional substance.

The language is dated and the characters are poorly developed. There's too much time spent making references to plots from previous books in the Lucky series. Again, the book wasn't bad but I stuck with it because of history with the character. Someone reading about this character for the first time would be highly disappointed. I know Jackie Collins can do better. If she intends to bring the Lucky character back after this book please take my advice and save us the description of how beautiful she is and how tough the Santangelos are, blah, blah, blah. We know that, get back to what your fans expect.

  2. When a book like this gets bad reviews, I'm sorry, but I have to step forth from the shadows and say WHOA! Time to put my own two cents in. Who are the people peppering these book reviews with such nitpicky negativity? Disgruntled wannabe authors? Jackie Collins is one author who has never disappointed me. She has created a timelessly intriguing character in Lucky Santangelo. And her cast of family, friends and foes are equally painted in vivid colors across the canvas. Some of which you might not necessarily want to run into on a dark corner, but people who nevertheless continue to enthrall us through the years. And having been a fan of Collins for at least 15 years, I was delighted to see her continuing the Santangelo family tree with her mini me Max.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions of Collins work of course, and I even AGREE with some points on the lesser reviews, but come on folks! This is NOT Danielle "Mass Production..Sleeping On The Job" Steel, an author who seems to have lost touch with the quality of her work and the demands of her fans. Collins is an author whom started out a bit simplistic and elementary in her writing trash for cash, but has grown into one I will buy from sight unseen without having to rely on a public library for first approval. A woman who takes the time to really tweak and fine tune every aspect of her novels to ensure the most satisfying, explosive bang for your buck. I can only roll my eyes once again at the negativity that seems to pervade so MANY book reviews nowadays.

Am I the only one who understands that these authors are human? They cannot possibly please every single reader on this planet? I expect them to put out a quality, entertaining novel, yes. I expect mature grammar and a fascinating plot. However, I'll attempt to write my OWN book before I'll sit and nitpick apart every last WORD from start to finish like I've seen other reviewers do. And I almost find that laughable considering today's horrid grammar that floats along in the real world. I will "attempt" to thoroughly read a book before making a review. I score my reviews honestly and will no more give a 5 than a 1 if it doesn't completely captivate me or completely disappoint me. Drop Dead Beautiful wasn't literary rocket science, but it WAS a pretty remarkably entertaining novel. My only advice to Collins, should she bring back the Santangelos in a future novel, is as one reader said, freshen things up a little. Kick a few chinks in Lucky's worn out, bad a$$, impenetrable armor. And please! NO MORE HOTELS! Enough about Panther Studios! Enough about the Bonatti's. Give the Santangelos a fresh arch enemy.

  3. I am a huge Jackie Collins fan. Lucky is my favorite character of all time. However, I feel Jackie dropped the ball with this book. The plot (though I'm partial to say one didn't even exist) was poorly adapted. The characters were not at all likable (not even Lucky), and the book as a whole was a waste of money. It really pains me to say this but if all future Lucky books are going to be like this one, Jackie really does not need to write anymore.

In this book, Jackie took the character Lucky and turned her into the one thing she's always been against: A DOMESTIC. Lucky was cooking and at home more often than not. I don't know if Jackie did this on purpose to say "Lucky's getting old" or if she's trying to slowly let Max (a name I don't like) take Lucky's place.

I was thinking she would reveal the fact that Lucky had slept with Alex, since Lennie's secret affair came to light in the last book but it was barely mentioned in this book.

Honestly, I waited seven long years for this book and I could barely get through it because it was so horrible. If you're reading this Jackie here are a few suggestions: KILL ONE OR TWO OF THE MAJOR CHARACTERS OFF (MY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GINO AND ONE OF LUCKY'S KIDS). ALLOW LUCKY'S AFFAIR WITH ALEX TO BE DISCOVERED. GIVE LUCKY A NEW FEMALE ENEMY (AS YOU DID IN VENDETTA). GIVE STEVEN AND VENUS MARIA A STORYLINE OR BETTER YET HAVE THEM TO FALL IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER (YES I KNOW THEY ARE BOTH MARRIED, BUT THIS IS FICTION AND ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE).

    I HOPE THIS HELPS!

  4. Drop Dead Beautiful

Wonderful ending to the Santangelo series by Jackie Collins.

You should read the entire series: Chances, Lucky, Lady Boss, Vendetta: Lucky's Revenge, Dangerous Kiss & Drop Dead Beautiful.

  5. This book is absolute trash. I threw it away this morning after only reading 40 pages, if that. I can't even give this book away or leave in a public place for someone else to get because I would feel badly about their reading it.
If you enjoy reading books about the treatment of women as sex objects and have the vocabulary of a 13-year-old, then this book is for you. However, if you have any morality within you at all, you will pass this one by. I will not read any of her books again, nor will I recommend them to anyone.

5 comments about Dangerous Kiss: A Lucky Santangelo Novel.
  1. Dangerous Kiss is so different from the other Lucky Santangelo novels because it does not feature the Bonnatti family. I really loved that it introduced new characters to the world of Lucky Santangelo and Lennie Golden.

This book is definitely worth five stars because you won't want to put the book down. It will keep you wondering about the fates of Lucky and everyone that she loves!

  2. Before Dangerous Kiss, every Lucky novel was an improvement from the last. That's why I was hoping for this to be the best Lucky novel, and Lucky could end at her best. Unfortunately, this one almost makes Chances look better!

This is "A Lucky Santangelo Novel", yet Lucky only plays a secondary part. Lucky's persona we all knew and loved in her prior adventures is much more passive, which is a major letdown. Another thing that I must say is that most of the characters crossing over from other Lucky novels serve no point in the novel, and you almost want to yell at the book, wondering why they are wasting pages.

Lucky has been a lot of fun, but I think it is time to leave her be, and move on to bigger and better things.

  3. From reading some of the reviews the customers have said i was a little sceptical about reading this book, but once i started it i couldnt put it down. i brought it everywhere even to work (something my boss was not thrilled with). i would deffinatly read this book again. personally i think it was the best book out of the whole lucky series. i hope you enjoy reading it like i did!!

  4. As all the Lucky's novels this one is excellent. You won't be able to put down the book until you finish it, JC has the ability to write five different stories in the book, merge all of them at the end of the book and keep you interested in all the stories and willing to read for more.

  5. I thought this was a great book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and entertaining book

  1. I really loved Jackie's "Married Lovers." I took it to the beach over this past weekend and couldn't put it down. A great summer read with characters she developes, and a fleshy plot of murder and sex. A true home run. Highly recommend.

Editor of Michele Cozzens' award winning women's fiction A Line Between Friends

  2. I am a HUGE fan of Jackie Collins have all her books specially the 80s Stud. B*tch,etc..in the original piccy covers...As I am noticing in Jackie latest novel, which as always keeps you entertained. I find that she has some of the same type of characters, just different names.. In this book she bring Cole back with a more prominent story lines than before. Natalie his sister also has a few lines, which she jumped from strggling news reporter to as it seem ET anchor. The character Don Verona talk show host, no nonsense all about me, is also similar to another character from previous book with the name Falcone.
Though the book starts off nice, goes back-forth past/present with the character Anya who I didn't understand why so much depth was put into that character, when her story lines is just on the edge of the whole book w/a later prominence towards the end. which Im sorry to say had an almost similarity from another book I think Thrill...Jackie always writes such colourful verbage that has you absorbing every yummy word..cheers to that!!..but sometimes the characters are lately predictable and have that feeling of didn't I read something like that in another book..Im missing that bite she usually puts in her book..entertaining at least
