The Anchorman DVD (Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate)

The Anchorman DVD (Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate)

SUMMARY: Stupid! A great cast of actors, but this movie was just dumb!

I can’t believe I wasted my money buying this DVD. I bought it on sale on black friday, but I paid too much. This movie was just stupid! I never sell my DVDs. I keep them so I can watch them again later. This one I will probably resell! There were a lot of funny people in this movie, but their talents were wasted. I am not a big Will Ferrell fan…actually, it is not so much him, as the movies that he has been in. I have always liked Christina Applegate dating back to Married With Children. Ben Stiller, and Tim Robbins even had cameos. This movie was just dumb! Maybe I can sell it on Amazon, and recoup my money.

Richard Pelzer-A Brother's Journey : Surviving a Childhood of Abuse

A Brother’s Journey : Surviving a Childhood of Abuse by Richard B. Pelzer

SUMMARY: True story of child abuse that makes Stephen King look tame.

My wife read David Pelzer’s books A Child Called “It”, The Lost Boy, and A Man Named Dave. I know she liked them, but I never read them. I was at the library and saw they had Richard Peltzer’s book A Brother’s Journey as a book on CD, so I decided to check it out.
This book talks about David in the early part. Young David lived in the dark basement. He was pretty much starved. When he was allow to eat, he was made to eat from a dog bowl under the table. He was at times forced to throw up to prove that he hadn’t been eating, and then forced to eat the vomit. Then there were the savage beatings. The mother also turned the other sons against David as well by rewarding their abuse of him. After the mother almost kills David with a knife, he is removed to a foster home. None of the other kids are removed. Richard gradually becomes the target of his mother’s drunken sick abuse. Some of his “punishments” included being forced the drink Tabasco sauce, having his broken hand smashed in a door, and of course the severe beatings.
As I listened to this book I became angrier and angrier. The mother was a real life psycho bitch from hell. It really makes you want to hunt her down, and beat her to death with a baseball bat. If someone had killed the bitch, it would have been a public service! I read that she is dead now. I hope that she died a long slow painful death, alone, and covered in her own filth! I hope that she is rotting hell now!

20Q

20Q - 20 questions electronic game

SUMMARY: Fun for kids and fun for adults! It is surprisingly good at guessing what you are thinking about. Inexpensive as well.

My aunt one of these at her her house, but unfortunatly the batteries were dead so I didn’t get a chance to play with it at that point. But she was telling me how cool it was. So when I was at the store, I found one, and gave it a try. The controls are exposed so you can play with it in the store. It asked me 20 questions, and guessed at what I was thinking of. Thus far it has succesfully guess correctly more often than not. Whats kind of funny is that many times the questions it asks seem to have nothing to do with what you are think of. It has correctly guess things like flower pot, potato chip, aluminum can, dinosaur, and playing card. It missed things like electric toothbruch (it got close with electric shaver), and zip-tie. When a co-worker was playing it, he was thinking of his ring, and the 20Q guessed jewelry, but hadn’t specified ring. That actually surprised me. It is a lot of fun trying to stump the little game, and it is amazing when it gets the answer when asking goofball questions like “Is it heavier than a duck?” And at a price of about $10 it would make a great stocking stuffer, or something for the office gift exchanges.

Pat Conroy-My Losing Season

My Losing Season by Pat Conroy

SUMMARY: Pat Conroy fans will love this. Basketball fans will enjoy it. People interested in The Citadel military college will find it interesting as well.

I am a huge Pat Conroy fan, and have read all of his books multiple times. I have a signed first edition of this book, and most of his other books as well. (I don’t have a first edition of The Boo…yet, and neither of my first edition copies of The Water Is Wide is signed…yet). Having read his books, you get little glimpses into his life as all of his books are based on his real life. The Water Is Wide is non fiction covering a time in his life when when he was teaching poor black children on a remote island. My Losing season covers the part of his life when he played basketball with it’s main focus being his senior year at The Citadel. Conroy’s novel The Lords Of Discipline was based on his time at the Citadel, but this book details is actual experiences.
I also have this book as a Book-On-Tape, but seeing as I don’t currently have a tape player in my car, I got the Book-On-CD from the library. This is a wonderful book, and I think almost anyone will enjoy it.

The Bachelor DVD (Chris O'Donnell, Renée Zellweger)

The Bachelor DVD (Chris O’Donnell, Renée Zellweger)

SUMMARY: A very funny and romantic comedy!

I woke up early Sunday morning, and was playing on the computer (this one), and had the TV on in the background. Some show was on and I caught the end of it. I don’t even remember what it was now. Then I saw the intro scrolling logos that indicated a movie was starting. I saw the actor’s names Chris O’Donnell, Renée Zellweger, and I was trying to think what movie it was. Then the title flashed on: The Bachelor. Hmmm…I don’t think I have ever seen that one. I am glad I didn’t change the channel because what followed was a very funny and romantic comedy! O’Donnell proposes (in a very funny way) to Zellweger out of obligation. She turns him down. O’Donnell finds out that he will inherit one hundred million dollars if he gets married before he turned 30 and with some other provisions such as be married for 10 years, have a child, etc. He then starts visiting all of the women he had ever dated trying to find one who would marry him who turn him down one by one. Then there is the church full of brides followed by rollicking chase that is frigging hillarious! Of course you have the happy ending! I really liked this movie! Check it out!
