Schizoid Ramblings

Wow! This is a tough week to choose the bottom three. They were all awesome performances. The chore will be to choose the three least awesome performances.

Ryan’s perfomance of Clocks was great. At the opening, I thought he was going to do another piano playing solo thing. But I love the soft to hard to soft thing. Great!

Dilana’s performance of Mother Mother was great! I am really surprised at the use of this song. It is a great song, but kind of on the obscure side I thought. I saw Tracy Bonham in concert years ago. I got to dig out her CD and listen to it. There were some other good songs on the CD as well.

Toby Rand’s performance of Rebel Yell was cool, but bring the girls up onto stage at the end was great.

Lucas Rossi’s version of Lithium was very good, but he may upset some Nirvana fans by the rearrangement.

Storm Large’s performance of Bring Me To Life was my favorite of the night. It was suggested that Toby stole the show, but I don’t think so. He was a great addition for the song, and his punchy parts accented Storm’s powerfull vocals nicely.

Magni’s performance was good, but it a night of great performances didn’t really stand out.

At the end of the show, the three people who popped into my head as the bottom three were Lucas and Storm. With maybe Magni? This is a tough week, but with six people, half of them have to be in the bottom three! I think Lucas belongs in the bottom three. Probably Magni too. Toby’s performance was good, but with the additional awesome vocals in Storm’s song, he is probably safe.

One thing I noticed is that Lucas Rossi’s voice is starting to grate on me. I like it at first, but the more I hear it, the moreannoying it is. It sounds that same on almost every song. I think if they choose Lucas, it will limit the longevity of the band. His voice just doesn’t have range.

I was on the Rockstar site this morning watching the videos of last night performances, and the website was being annoying. On a few of the songs, it would play the 15 second commercial, play the 10 second Rockstar intro, get through the introduction, play a few seconds of the song, then jump to the next performance complete with new commercial. Very annoying. This happened on Dilana, Lucas, and Storm. My first though was that this was a sign that these guys would be the bottom three. We shall see!

Sarbanes and Oxley are a couple shitheads who wrote legislation to make the lives of programmers miserable. It came as an answer to the Enron scandle, but had this legislation been around before Enron, it wouldn’t have made a godamn difference! The Enron stuff all came about from overly aggressive accounting rule interpretations. Also from things like make phone calls to have power plants shut down for testing to artificially create shortages, and raise prices. Jumping through a bunch of bureaucratic hoops to get the simplest things done, would have caused a problem for the Enron folks!

Screw you Sarbanes and Oxley! I used to enjoy my job a lot more before your bulls**t. Not I get a-holes telling me things like I can’t tranfser files without a password…and that I also can’t transfer the files WITH a password. When I ask how I am supposed to transfer the files, I just get a “that’s not my job”. Or trying to research errors that only happen on one machine, and not having access to that machine, and not being able recreate the errors on any other machine. Yeah, it’s loads of frigging fun!

I was surprised to see Magni in the bottom three again. He did an awesome version of Fire by Jimi Hendrix, but he missed an opportunity! The previous night someone, I think it was Tommy Lee, mentioned that he wanted to see someone break something. I was hoping Magni wouldn’t smash the Gibson Les Paul guitar. But he could have bought a cheap Fender Squire guitar, played, and smashed it. Years ago when I lived in Seattle, I saw Yngwie Malmsteen play a Jimi Hendrix medley. He normally plays a heavily customized Fender Strat, but for this medley he played a Fender Squire Strat (an economy version of the Fender Stratocaster). At the end of the song, he lit the guitar on fire, then smashed it. I managed to grab half the body of the guitar, and still own it. But Magni could have bought a cheap guitar, played it, and smashed, and won some valuable brownie points. I am glad he didn’t smash the Les Paul though.
When they had Toby sit down, it wasn’t any surprise to see Patrice go. I knew Magni wasn’t going anywhere yet.
I don’t even know how Storm Large could have possibly been in the running for the bottom three. Her performance of Cryin was great!
I liked the new original Supernova song. It was better than the first one. But Toby didn’t stand out like Dilana did.
Ryan needs to go. Of the people that are left, Ryan is the person that I most NOT want to see get the job. Toby is the number two guy that I don’t want to see win.

A few weeks ago, I listed my favorites to win. I listed Dilana, Storm, and Lucas. I gave Patrice a nod as she was starting to look promising, but that obviously didn’t last. I am liking Magni more. So I will add Magni. I will also say that Lucas is dimming a little.

I currently own an HP Laserjet 4 that I bought a couple years ago on eBay. I also have a Laserjet 4m witha burnt out fuser, that I keep for parts. But I wanted to do duplexing. After some research, I found the Laserjet 4 will not do duplexing. I would have needed to have bought a Laster 4+ or 4m+ to be able to add on a duplexing unit. But I looked, and found a local place selling a Laserjet 5si on eBay. I watched the auction, and bought it for $99.99 (plus $10 pickup fee, and NY state sales tax). It even have a 2000 sheet feeder, and already does duplexing! My Laserjet 4 is supposed to print 8 ppm (pages per minute). The Laserjet 5si will supposedly print 24 ppm! Three times faster!
This will work great for a business that I am looking at starting! I just need to get it home. I hope it will fit into my Honda Civic!

The CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 was introduced in April 2003 by Senators Conrad R. Burns (R-MT) and Ron Wyden (D-OR).

WHAT A FRIGGING JOKE! I AM STILL GETTING SPAMS UP THE WAZZU! IT HASN”T MADE A FRIGGING DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!! If anything, it legitimized some spam! I was just reading about AOL going to dig up the yard of Davis Wolfgang Hawke’s parents. Hawke apparently made millions of dollars from spam. AOL won a suit a against the guy who apparently had bough gold and platinum bars, and buried them someplace. But Hawke dissapeared. Why isn’t he in jail? Isn’t soamming illegal now?

What a frigging joke! I hope butt munches Conrad R. Burns and Ron Wyden are proud of their impotent…I mean important legislation!
