2 comments about Wenger: The Making of a Legend.
- This is a superb and very readable book about Arsenal's legendary manager Arsene Wenger. The sub-title of the book accurately captures what this book is about. It delves into the people and experiences that have shaped Wenger's personality. The author has painstakingly interviewed some of the key personalities that have both influenced and been influenced by Wenger. The book also gives us insights about the network of people surrounding Wenger such as colleagues, coaches, managers - both past and present.
The author does succeed, to a great extent, in explaining some of the key impressions we have of Wenger - a person who is disciplined, has a high integrity and with 'ice' exterior.
Less is known about Wenger's personal life - which is repeatedly caricatured as a football video addict in this book. Perhaps, an interview with Wenger or an autobiography may provide a more nuanced and balanced potrayal of hum in the future. Hopefully, the author will updated the book in the future to include recent events - Viera's departure and the re-bulding of the first team, the Champions League Final in 2006 and of course, the Emirates Stadium.
This book is highly recommended for all football (soccer) fans (who are curious about Wenger) and in particular, Arsenal fans who are intrigued by his personality but find current media reports sufficient. I think the book would also appeal to football historians and aspiring football managers.

- Charlie George, Here is Charlie George.....
I must say that I truly enjoyed this book. Of course, I am a bit biased because Charlie George was my favorite Arsenal player even though I could only really read about him and the team from imported newspapers. I expected the book to be light-hearted and a bit whimsical and that is what I got. Charlie does talk about his faults but he does not dwell on them which to me was refreshing. Too many times I have read books by athletes and they dwell too much on defending themselves from the attacks of others. Charlie just tells his story and leaves it at that.
If you are a Charlie George fan or an Arsenal supoorter then I would suggest picking this one up because there are some amusing stories.

2 comments about Wilma Rudolph (On My Own Biographies).
- THIS BOOK WAS INSPIRATION TO EVERY YOUNG BLACK CHILD THAT IS PURSURIG TRACK & FIELD. THIS BOOK TALKS HIGHLIGHTLY ON IF YOU SEE YOUR MIND TO A GOAL OR DREAM STICK WITH IT WHEN NO BELIEVES IN YOU BUT YOURSELF.
- Wilma Rodolph had one big problem before she became a famous Olympic runner, and that problem was that she had polio. Polio is a disease that you can die from or lose use of your legs. Wilma lost the use of her left leg only but was still in much pain. Every day, Wilma rode on a bus to a therapist to treat her leg. The bus ride took about 2 hours both ways. When this was happening Wilma was only six years old. Doctors told Wilma's parents, "She might not make it." Her parents were very upset. Wilma's family was very, very poor. Wilma wished very much that she could run like the other children at her school. But as Wilma got older (11) and she kept therapy she started to walk and run! It took Wilma along time for her to prepare but finally she won three gold medals in the 1960 Olympics! I would recommend this book to kids that like to run.
