1 comments about Hideo Date: Line, Color, and the Quest of a Japanese American Artist.
- This survey of the art of Hideo Date is published in conjunction with the Japanese-American National Museum and presents the artist's blend of Japanese and American painting. Gorgeous color paintings by a Japanese-American artist who survived the camps makes for a striking synthesis of styles and cultures.

2 comments about A Doctor's War.
- This book has been re-printed.
New ISBN is 1903464706
- This short autobiographical account of an Irish doctor's World War II experiences is so riveting that I stayed up way too late to finish it. Dr. MacCarthy served in Europe and was then shipped out to the Asian theatre where he endured the unthinkable. The most striking things I took away from this book is how strong human beings can be in the face of terrible events and how good can triumph within each of us. As the preface said, if you went to a movie and saw all the things portrayed which Dr. McCarthy lived through, you'd think it too far-fetched to be true.

1 comments about Diary of a Girl in Changi 1941-1945.
- This book, this author is an inspiration to life itself ! I found, once I started, I could NOT put the book down, and then attended one of her talks and the finer details that came through .. truly amazing, inspiring and awesome ! As you read, YOU are in Changi, YOU are there, feeling every emotion that was felt by the author, crying, laughing .. this is the BEST book I have ever read and I class it up in the levels of the Diary of Anne Frank and more !

3 comments about The Soul Conquers.
- When the book arrived, I opened it immediately and
read for a straight eight hours ----- cover-to-cover
nonstop. To me it was a "page turner", and with a
reading glass to boot ---
I think Pieter has created a masterpiece ------ he
tells a story that, as far as my past reading on WWII
goes, has not been told before. I have only known
Pieter professionally. I had no idea how much he
suffered in his youth. Clearly it made his soul
stronger ----- the title is well chosen".
- From my mother Joan, 77: "I finished reading the book and believe me, I was overwhelmed by it. It brought back so many memories - I used to wonder if the government made some of it up, but they could not do justice to the story as this book does. I am so glad it was published. I hope someone makes it into a movie. The author's bonding with Aaron van den Berg was so touching - I had tears in my eyes. It is a wonderful and informative book."
- A young boy of wealth is 14 yrs old when his entire world changed for the worse. His whole family sent to prison camps where they suffered strvation, separation, beatings and other inhumane treatment.
His strength and belief in a higher power was enlightened after meeting a fellow prisoner named Aaron van de berg. He ultimately guided his life and left him with lasting impressions on forgivness and love of all people.
