  1. A very well written book with great, rare photographs. Much more than just a game by game analysis of Bobby Bowdens career. This book gives behind the scenes look at the decisions he made in the games and in his career - I am sure happy he did not take the LSU or Alabama positions when he was considering them! A great book about the all-time coaching win leader!. Well researched.

  1. To be honest, I wasnt very interested in this book at first, thinking it was an autobiography. Once I realized that it was actually a comedy about a cheeseball that takes himself too seriously and blames his shortcomings on every coach he comes in contact with, I was hooked. The amount of self praise and incredible overuse of the pronoun "I" by the author makes this story a true comic masterpiece!

  2. For starters, the book 4th and Long The Odds: My Journey, is an inspirational story that clearly proves that if a person is willing to work hard enough, anything is possible. For a high training athlete like myself, getting to where I am today has not been easy. The book however has been that extra edge that has helped keep me focused and motivated to work even harder than ever before. I have faced many trials and tribulations and continue to face them with coaches and people who I meet that I like to call "haters". After reading this book, then Mr. Van Nodstram's comment, it is very obvious that Mr. Van Nodstram was a back-up player who never excelled past the high school level in sports. If Mr. Van Nodstram had any experience with becoming a collegiate or professional athlete, he would know that there is a great deal of adversity that one most overcome before excelling to these levels. Reading Mr. Van Nodstran's comment proves that the jealous "hater" who was the back-up in high school still exists today and to me that is the true comic masterpiece. The book 4th and Long The Odds: My Journey by Sean Stellato is an excellent book and I highly recommend it to people of all ages.

  1. This is a very interesting and fascinating story of a lady who over-came tremendous odds to accomplish a very different task which lead to her becoming the first woman to coach an all male football team. Her great perseverance, dedication, faith, and family seemed to have provided the foundation for success through out her life (particularly in her education and career). She never let anything pervent her from reaching her goals regardless of the difficulty. It's a wonderful story of one becoming anything they want to with faith, confidence and persistency. A must read for all ages!

  1. RICE IS INDEPTH BUT NOT ENOUGH. RIGHT WHEN YOU FEEL THAT YOU'RE REALLY GETTING TO KNOW THIS AMAZING ATHLETE, IT STOPS AND COMES UP SHORT. THE BOOK DOESN'T GO INDEPTH ENOUGH. BUT IT DOES GIVE A GLIMPSE OF A GREAT ATHLETE WITH A DRIVE NO ONE COULD EVER DOUBT. OVERALL, IF YOU WANT TO LEARN A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT "FLASH 80", READ THIS BOOK

  2. This is a great book about one of the greatest athletes to ever play in the NFL. You really get to know Jerry and how he approaches the game that he loves. A must read for any die-hard Jerry Rice fans. I recently met Jerry in person and had him autograph his book for me. He's a great person and a tremendous athlete.

  3. I read the book and now i know more about how he plays the game of football.

  4. This is a great Auto-Biography of Jerry Rice. The pictures are excellent, and the writing is also great.

  5. JERRY RICE IS PROBABLY THE BEST WIDE RECEIVER OF ALL TIME. BUT THIS BOOK IS NOT. IT HAS SOME GREAT COLOR PHOTOS OF GAME ACTION AND OF JERRY AND HAS FAMILY. BUT THE REST OF IT LACKS ALOT. IF YOU LIKE VERY PLAIN AND UNDETAILED FACTS ABOUT JERRY THEN THIS IS FOR YOU. MOST OF THE BOOK IS PHOTOS, SOME STATS AND SOME VERY GENERIC FACTS ABOUT RICE AND HIS CAREER. TO ME IT IS NOT BAD BUT SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTING.

  1. While I have not yet read the book, I wish to point out that Glenn Davis never reached the rank of brigadier general. As a matter of fact, he hardly reached the rank of first lieutenant. He was too interested in Hollywood and such environs. He wasn't even a good pro player. Neither was Joe Bellino.

  2. Oh come on! How can anybody pan a book without at least opening the cover? Field of Valor is an excellent look at the service academy football programs during their glory days. It might not belong in the library of every football fan but it is a nicely produced book with a great deal of interesting information and it deserves a look, especially with bargain priced used copies out there!
