1 comments about Brett Favre.
- My friend and I really admire Brett and the entire Packers team. Being from Washington, we were thrilled to see Mike Holmgren come to the Seahawks. However, Brett is still the best QB in the NFL and this book offers a personal look at different aspects of Favre. It is our dream to one day meet Brett.

4 comments about Andy Russell: A Steeler Odyssey.
- This is the story of a former NFL All Pro linebacker going on a journey of self discovery after retiring from the game. Along the way he reminisces about his famous teammates: Joe Greene, Terry Bradshaw, Jack Ham, Rocky Bleier and others. He and his Steeler pal, Ray Mansfield, take Lynn Swann and Mel Blount around the world, giving speeches from Hong Kong to London, and sports clinics for young people from Singapore to Jeddah while still finding time to develop his international investment business. Two stories tell of dodging bullets on a USO tour of Vietnam and Thailand with ex-congressman Jack Kemp, Bobby Bell, John David Crow and Bill Brown. Along the way the adventurer team of Russell/ Mansfield test themselves on a wilderness canoe race in Canada, on mountain tops in Nepal and barely make it out of the Grand Canyon. The writer, a sensitive sort, who struggles to find himself after leaving the game gives the reader a first hand look of what it was like to be on the field with the world champion Pittsburgh Steelers. This book is an easy read--one that will keep the reader rivited to every story.
- Being a Steeler Fan, I have read both Terry Bradshaw's and Rocky Bleir's books, and while I found them interesting, I didn't get quite the feel for the individual as well as the game from their books as I did from Andy Russell's. I am not just a fan of the sport of football, but a fan of the players. As a fan of the individuals, I like to know as much about them as possible. Everything from their childhood and family life, through high school and college, because all of that has an effect on their football career and what they bring to the game. Andy's stories about his life after football give us a perspective on the good effects that the commraderie and competitiveness of football can have on the rest of your life. I particularly enjoyed the chapter which tells of his visits to combat areas in Vietnam. The American soldiers in the various hospitals had the same reaction to American football players. I totally understand that reaction - meeting A Pittsburgh Steeler so far away from home helped the soldier forget the harshness of war for just a few moments and go back to all that is good in the world - good old American Football!

1 comments about I Remember Tom Landry.
- Tom Landry was a model of consistency both
on and off the field, despite his detractors
like the jerk Bayless! Twenty winning seasons
in a row. Even though never liking the Cowboys,
they were consistant and Landry, Tex Schramm
and Ernie Stautner were the reason! God bless
Tom for giving some class back to the game!
Even if he was a Cowboy!

1 comments about I Remember Vince Lombardi: Personal Memories of and Testimonials To Football's First Super Bowl Championship Coach, as told by the People and Players Who Knew Him (I Remember).
- This book is simply a rehash of quite a bit of past recollections of the great Vince Lombardi that are culled from previous works. Anyone who is a Lombardi affecionado will learn very little that is new. Also, in several passages of recollections there are no mention of Lombardi at all. Strange to say the least. Disappointing book. I guess all there is to be remembered about Vince has been said and done.

4 comments about All Madden: Hey, I'm Talking Pro Football!.
- John madden is absolutely awesome. He writes just like he announces games, which is great because you aren't supposed to write like you talk. There's a chapter called, "Hating the Cowboys is Healthy"! Hwo can you not love this guy? Buy the book if you're even remotely interested in football.
- FOX Commentator John Madden's book All Madden, Hey, I'm Talking Pro Football, is a nice little romp through the meaningless things All Madden. You ever watch a game and hear John babble on about the socks a player is wearing, or how he went ice fishing after a Vikings game? Well the same thing goes with this book. He babbles on and on about weird things, but he does come up with a lot of great insights and football facts just like he does in game commentaries.
I just wish they had use the word 'Hey' a little less.
- John Madden, Maddencruiser and all loves
Football and wants you out there to love
it too. All his books are well worth the
buy and at least you can read them easily
as John does like he does when ordering
lunch - no 'banjo orders' - he doesn't
"string" things along. He gives it to
you plain, straight and to the point.
Always liked John but the sorry partners
he has had to be saddled with lately -
Al Michaels [nee Dave Bronstein, at least
that's what he played in a 1968 episode of
Hawai'i Five-0] - yeuch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- I bought this book years ago, and with the big game approaching I broke it out over the weekend. A classic read, with all his inimitable cliches, and euphemisms, and pontification. It's almost like you're sitting next to him in the booth. Great job.

5 comments about Zee Bees.
- This is an excellent book. I couldn't put the book down! It tells about how people lived in this small town of Zion, IL and the values they had which rubbed off in their high school students. It tells about the football team who had their dreams of championship and persevered toward it. The high school students had respect for their coach no matter how they were treated, they could see, they all had one goal in mind. That is pretty difficult for teenagers, sometimes. The book will make you laugh and cry and bring you right into that small town. The descriptions of the football games and the sights of that town are so real! This book should be read by everyone who wants to make a difference in thier lives by overcoming any problem. Work hard and have respect.
- As a foreign exchange student at Zion-Benton in 1961-62 - 7 years after Bob Osmon graduated - I was delighted to read his book about the team and the coach that set out to win the championship - and did! - against formidable foes like Lake Forest and New Trier. You don't need to understand the rules and tactics of American football (I frankly don't) to enjoy this fascinating story. And you don't need to know Zion - which springs to life even 50 years later - because this could be any small community anywhere in the USA. A book for grown-ups and youngsters - everyone will want to immerse themselves in this tale of challenge, frustration, team building - and winning.
- I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. I had a general idea of what the book was about but once I started reading it brought me back to a place that I have never been, and really never even heard about growing up. You see my dad is Paul Jackola and reading this book showed me how different values and team work was before my teen age years. We all expect things and back then you had to work for them. This book is something that all kids should read, make them think of how it used to be, how it is now and what they can do for the future. This book will be read by my 3 children and then it will be brought to the local schools for teachers to read and hope to teach a lesson for all children of today.
- "Zee Bees" by Bob Osman is an exceptional read. The story about a group of young people, a football team and their friends(girl friends and teammates)is a great portrayal of growing up in America in the 50's. It has many lessons about friendship and working for your goals that would serve any generation of young people. Once you start reading the book you can't put it down. I recommend it to young people of any age. You will enjoy it. My son and daughters read it and enjoyed the story and it was not just because their mother is the girl that swept Bob off his feet in the book and the star center on the team is their uncle. It is a good story and one all of us can relate to regardless of the generation in which we grew up.
- I am the Publisher of Zee Bees. Roger Staubach, one of America's superlative athletes, has recommended the book. I pass along his comments to all readers who may be interested;
"Zee Bees took me vividly back to my football days...the hard work, the bruises, the excitement, the camaraderie, the emotional ups and downs, ...it's all there. This is an inspirational book that teaches the lessons that team sports teaches so well...how to establish goals, stick to it, work together, ...and succeed! I highly recommend Zee Bees for readers of all ages!"

- ...just like Dante and the Swiss Cheifs offense. He can't even beat out WRs like Sammie Parker and Eddie Kennison. Kennison couldn't even stay on his other NFL team.
- An excellent story of how a man who was too small to play in college (much less the NFL) has excelled.

4 comments about Bull in the Ring.
- Dr. McCarthy is a great storyteller. "Bull in the Ring" is his autobiographical tale of a Navy doctor who is recruited to coach the hospital football team, a perennial doormat in a league of Marines. The book is a behind-the-scenes look at a down to earth doc who balances his life as a family man, intense football coach and compassionate physician. He throws in funny stories of military protocol and operating room pranks. You will love this book.
- To get an idea of what REALLY goes on in military medicine, read this humorous, well-written, tell-it-like-it-is story of 2 Navy Captains (both physicians) coaching a Navy Hospital football team in a Marine league. A moving admixture of heart-warming stories about TRUE military heroes, hilarious episodes and behind-the-scenes looks at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. Dr. McCarthy was cut from a different mold as is evident from his bold, entertaining literary style.
- If you like riotous humor, then Bull In The Ring is for you.
The collection of autobiographical episodes by Navy Surgeon
Doctor Michael McCarthy will keep you laughing through each
concise and easy to follow chapter. The lessons learned by
Doctor McCarthy aboard a nuclear submarine, as coash of a football team of Navy corpsmen, and during his everyday practice
as a military physician are things every doctor who served
understands and loves to remember! I feel strongly that reading
Bull In The Ring will help the reader broaden his outlook on life, and help the reader to understand the humor of medical life
in the military.
- Well written. As a Marine it's always good to hear what the Navy thinks about the Corps. For me the book had a tad too much medicine and not enough about coaching but it was still a good read and many of the stories were of the laugh out loud variety.

1 comments about Touched: The Jerry Sandusky Story.
- Whe you finish this book you wish it was longer. Like a good movie you do not want it to end. It describes a man who has done some great things to help others. How many college football coaches would turn down 3 head coaching opportunities at big-time schools to stay in "Happy Valley". A couple who could not have their own children. Then adopted 6. Not all in infancy. A man who took in foster children and at the same time ran the defense for one of college football's elite teams for 23 years. A kid who never grew up. Yet a person who is so selfless it defies human ego. Everyone reading this should do themselves a moral favor and contribute money to the Second Mile. (...).
