1 comments about Staying Human Through the Holocaust.
- Terez Mozes was born in Romania in 1919 to a stable and loving jewish family. The family, like the entire Romanian jewish community would be shattered when the Nazi's took control and undertook its systemic destruction beginning with the imposition of restrictive laws and concluding with forcible evacuations to the death camps. In June 1944, Terez and her sister Erzsi were sent to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in German-occupied Poland where they and tens of thousands of others were subjected daily to unspeakable horrors. After being liberated from the death camp in February 1945, the return of Terez and her sister to their homeland would be delayed by widespread confusion as the Russians swept through Eastern Europe crushing Nazi resistance. After internment in numerous Russian camps, the two sisters finally returned to their devastated home town of Oradea, Romania in August 1945. First published in Hungarian in 1993, and re-published in Romanian in 1995, Staying Human Through The Holocaust, a superbly written personal memoir, is finally available to an English speaking readership. A testament to survival under the Nazi's as well as the Russian dominated aftermath, no Holocaust Studies or 20th Century Judaic Studies collection can be considered complete without the inclusion of Staying Human Through The Holocaust.

1 comments about Michael J. Fox (Overcoming Adversity).
- I was given this book as a present - it had been ordered through Amazon in the States and it took about just over a week to be shipped over to the UK, and it was a wonderful surprise. The book tells true Fox fans the story of how his first real break came in television, - through to international fame with hit movies such as BTTF, Teen Wolf, Secret Of My Success. There are excellent pictures. And yes it does tell of how he is coming to terms with his Parkinson's disease and his life right now. I definately recommend this book, it is a very interesting read (and the pictures are rather yummy too).
