2 comments about From Communism to Capitalism : A Tale of Three Cities.
- From Communism To Capitalism: A Tale Of Three Cities is an enjoyable memoir that collects the life experiences of Gordon S. Reiss in his efforts at helping the people of the former Communist countries make the difficult transition to a free-market economy. From the Republic of Georgia to the Czech Republic and the nation of Russia, From Communism To Capitalism presents a unique, personal, autobiographical view of the dynamic challenges the people in each of these three nations have to face. From Communism To Capitalism is highly recommended reading for students of International Studies and the non-specialist general reader with an interest in the transition of Eastern Europe from communist ideology driven economics to a contemporary world of free markets and entrepreneurial capitalism.
- The author writes in a light, easy-to-read style about his many experiences in the newly independent countries of the former Soviet Block. He describes how he helped entrepreneurs, businesses, non-profit organizations, and government agencies find ways to improve their operations and increase their revenues and profits. He did so without firing any employees or having to make any significant expenditures. He also describes in fascinating manner the culture, customs, business, and social practices in the former Communist countries. I learned a great deal, but had fun reading the book. It is an adventure tale of "Marketing Without Money." It is very readable and entertaining, yet full of interesting information. Read it!
