  1. I picked up this book at the library while searching for information on the restoration of the Sistine Chapel. Despite the claims of the beautifully designed jacket, this book has nothing to do with anything but Janusczcak's love affair with his own writing. The information relevant to Michelangelo, the Sistine Chapel, Nippon Television, or the restoration process could have been condensed into less than thirty pages. To be fair, I slogged through the entire book, and now I'll never get those minutes of my life back. SAYONARA MICHELANGELO is a celebration of onanistic writing. Facts seem to be nothing more than ornamentation for Januszczak's (deep) purple flights of fancy. This is not a resource for anything but Waldemar's little fantasies, and as a novel, the plot's kinda thin. Save your shekels for one of Amazon's many other fine offerings.

  2. THIS IS A BOOK THAT WILL DEFINETLY TEACH YOU ALOT ABOUT ART. BUT I REALLY DON'T THINK THAT THE AUTHOR REALLY KNEW WHAT HE WAS SAYING. THE BOOK DIDN'T HAVE A REAL POINT

  1. When I was very young, I borrowed this wonderful book from a Brooklyn Public Library. The Author, Michael Burban, was a student of Robert Beverley Hale, and in his footsteps, he taught through dissecting old master drawings. There was no greater draughtsman than Michelangelo. Imagine how much can be learned from when one of the most respected artists of the Students art League, picks apart the drawings of Michelangleo. Lessons from Michelangelo. The drawings are unparalled. Burban, chooses, old and late drawings that span the life of Michelangelo. Burban, starts out by pointing out the very basics of form, perspective, proportion, gesture, then delves into artistic anatomy, and finishes with some thoughts on drapery. It stresses discipline and basics, and doesn't sell any shortcuts. After keeping this book out of the library for quite some time, it was mistakenly returned. I searched the library for months, never to see it again. I ventured to the Students art league in NY, unfortunately Burban was away for that term. I contacted a used book specialist. Nearly two years passed, and I received a phone call, the book was found, the price was twice the retail, 75 dollars, what a deal. It was the easily the best book I ever bought. I love this book, it is one of only a few books which I can say has real sentimental value. In a way it changed my life. I appreciate Michelangelo and his beautiful drawings, in no small part, thanks to this book. I wish Burban would write another book, or at least that this book would see a reprint. If you ever have a chance to buy this book, don't think twice. Its a great book.

After keeping this book out of the library by renewing it for quite some time, my mother, bless her heart did me a favor and mistakenly returned it. I returned and searched the library for months, never to see it again. I even attempted to go to the source and ventured to the Students art league in NY, hoping to buy an extra copy from the author - unfortunately Burban was away for that term. I contacted a used book specialist and asked them to track down a copy of this book which had made such an impression on me. Nearly two years passed, one day I received a phone call, the book was found, the price was twice the retail, 75 dollars. I was still young and poor, but I didn't think twice about buying it. It was the easily the best book I ever bought.

    Its a great book.

  3. I just spoke to Michael Burban a few weeks ago, and am trying to convince him to release a new version of the book. He says he has learned much since he first wrote it, so the new book--if it ever comes out--should be exciting.

  1. I was browsing through my local Books and Books store with my younger brother, searching for educational books for his history class. I stumbeled upon a local author who was signing his latest book in a series of Comical and Cartoonish remakes of poular historical figures. My younger brother seemed intrigued and wanted to skim through the book. He was instantly capitvated by the lavish drawings and amusing storyline. The book perfectly captivated the life of young artist Michelangelo Bounarroti as a rabit known as Michelangelo Bunnyrroti. I thought the theme was amusing since all of the other books he has illustrated and wrote have a similiar theme with the main character's name being changed into that of a popular animal. Needless to say, I met with Mr. Toffoli and he signed the book for my younger brother who was ecstatic. My brother later demanded that I purchased the other books in the series. I, as well as my brother, are both eagerly awaiting any future releases from this up-and-coming author.

  2. My child never had so much fun learning about history. The illustrations on the book made my child want to read the next series from this author. I feel that this author really captures children's attention with the drawings to teach them about historical figures. I would highly recommend this book to teachers, parents, and children alike.

  3. This is the type of book that, if you were a parent, you would fall in love with it immediately. The first day I only read the first few pages to my five-year-old; but the next day I had to read it completely to him. He said he wouldn't go to sleep until it was finished. The illustrations are excellent and very imaginative. Both, me and my son, loved how the real life characters were portraid as animals by Andrew Toffoli. There is not enough good things to be said about it! Totally recomend it!

  4. I am a teacher and a mother. This book was educational and entertaining at the same time. My son can not put it down!! I thought that my son would never like history, but now he can't wait to learn more! I cannot WAIT for the next title.

  5. When author and illustrator Andrew Toffoli became aware of a lack of suitable teaching tools for children ages 3 to 8 on the subject of history, he created 'Hi-stories', a trilogy of picturebooks specifically designed to teach real history using imagination, humor, and animal characters. "Michelangelo Bunnyrroti", the story of an artistically gifted hare who sculpts and paints magnificent works of art in a whimsical approach to telling the story of Michelangelo Bounarroti. Attractively engaging, unfailingly entertaining, thoroughly 'kid friendly', this highly recommended picturebook is eminently suitable and appropriate for family, preschool, home school, elementary school, and community library collections.

  1. It is a talent to be able to write a book so easy to understand yet so descriptive and classy. It describes everything about Michelangelo you'd ever want to know and kids will be able to get an idea and appreciation for his work too. If your looking for something not so fancy dancy, this is for you.
