1. This book is an excellent piece of work. Expertly written and illustrated with an array of beatifully taken colour photographs. This book is a must have for any fan of Calder's work. Superb.



2. This is a wonderful little book. It is a great resource on Calder. I volunteer at our local grade school as an art docent and shared this book with my classes for our Alexander Calder mobile projects. The students were impressed. The quality of the photos is first rate and the text is informative.

1. The author says "...the object of this book, which really is to create a stimulant to the younger artist, to draw things as he sees them, has fulfilled its purpose." I am neither young nor an artist but I find this little book very stimulating. If you browse the book you will see very simple animal sketches. Many of them are so simple that I thought I could do them better, so I tried. And this is the important thing, I tried, I copied the sketches in the book. Maybe one sketch has only a few lines and maybe you get some/all of them right, but what do you think of the overall result? Could it be better? Just do it again, after all it only takes a moment, there are only a few lines to draw.
   I have only tried with the sketches in the book and I have yet to try with living animals (dogs, cats, cows,...) I wanted a book on animal sketching and, besides the title, this es the content of this book.
   I highly recommend this book.

1. The most beautiful book I own. The photos of Calder's amazing work are fabulous, and this book is ALL about photos.



2. I have always loved Calder's work and am a jewelry maker myself, yet I hesitated before investing in this book. It is well worth every cent. The photos are beautiful and depict the liveliness and earthiness of Calder's jewelry amazingly.



3. The production quality of the book is wonderful. Photos are very high quality, and there are a lot of them. The paper is heavy-duty and will stand up to all the viewings this book will receive in our house.
   
   I didn't know much about Alexander Calder or his jewelry, but enjoyed the discovery of both through this book. My only complaint (if it can be called that) is that it arrived shortly before I needed to take a trip, and the size/weight of the book precluded me bringing it along!
   
   It's a great inspiration to see those pieces.



4. It is amazing what he did with only wire.It pushes your mind to the creative edge.Every page gives new inspiration!!!! Highly recommend to all that make jewelry.
