- This shoe is great. I do a great deal of hiking in different areas. I have used it on the trails in colorado and the shoe handled all terrain including streams, rocky trails, and climbing rocks. When I went fishing I would walk out in the water and they handled the surface changes great. When you walk out of the water the shoe dries within 10 minutes. As long as you rinse the shoe when you get home and lay it out to dry it will not stink. Even ran about 6 miles over rocky terrain and it handled it very well. May want to wear socks for that though, had a couple blisters when I did not wear socks. Overall, a great shoe.
- went water rafting in costa rica with it, after 2 days, the sole of the shoe is still wet and starts to stink... even with the insole removed.
the inside of the shoe is made of this fabric that holds moisture and small particles of dirt and silt, i had to wash it out with soap manually for over 20 mins, and let it sun dry or wind dry.
it's not a good shoe for humid climates where shoes are hard to dry, best to wear teva's or keen's instead, since they have a solid sole...
its still a comfortable pair of shoes, if you wear it in the city, or in places where there aren't too much small pebbles or sand...
- I fly-fish Michigan streams a lot and this shoe is very versatile. I doubt this shoe was designed to be used as a wading shoe, but it does a great job gripping rocks and has good traction on a lot of surfaces.
The mesh on the bottom of the shoe allows for it to dry very quickly, and helps to drain sand. The heel support fastening straps help keep small rocks and gravel out.
I tried the shoe out for a jog between fishing holes and the shoe did ok as a running shoe, although the ankle and sole support probably isn't what you want for running. If you use this as a hiking or jogging shoe, your feet will probably hurt a little after.
This shoe also has decent traction on fiberglass and wood surface.
And if you plan on using this shoe as a wading shoe in mucky or silty areas, you may want to wear socks or gravel guards as leeches have a tendency to get inside the shoe near the ankle. :)
The lack of sole and ankle support, was the reason for a 4-star rating to an otherwise great shoe.

- I've had a black pair of Hawthornes for about 2 years until the heel is worn down so far it leaks. What this means is that I LOVE THESE BOOTS! I'm an architect and they were not unsuitable for office casual and I could tromp on out to a construction site on no notice, rinse off the mud afterward and go on with the day. As I said, I've worn them down until they're no longer watertight, which is a statement of how much I've punished them. Now I need to replace them and all I can find is this Slime Green and Great White Hunter camouflage nonsense. BLACK!
- I'm a female with very big and wide feet, and I'm not a boot wearer because I can never find a boot that's wide or comfortable enough for me! That's until I found these LaCrosse waterproof boots. They are the perfect Cinderella fit for me. The rubber that the boot is made of stretches out to fit your foot perfectly, so you don't have to worry if they are wide enough. I just knew I was going to have to send them back because I thought they would be too narrow by them being only a M (Medium) in width, because I'm a DD/DDD in width, but they were perfect. And they are very, very comfortable too! I really recommend these boots for people like myself, who really don't like to wear boots, they are nice looking, lightweight and comfortable. Easy on and off too, that was one of my main concerns also. I hate a boot that takes forever to get on and off, but not these. I highly recommend these. No more wet feet in gymshoes in the snow for me. Thank you LaCrosse!!

- These are my favorite shoes. They are very comfortable and fit perfect. I wish I could wear them to work and church. I hope to buy a second pair before they quit selling this model. I can't speak for the durability yet, but my son has a pair as well and he is HARD on everything.
- Purchased these shoes in Bozeman about nine months ago. My previous two pairs of Merrells survived for less than nine months but the Salomons are still going strong. Very comfortable and no sign of delamination.
- Hmmmm... these were very comfortable right out of the box. I enjoyed wearing them for a few weeks and then the soles began to delaminate. Very dissapointing. I hiked with them a few times and just did the casual walking so they shouldn't have come apart so easily.

- I love these boots! For many years I have had problems keeping my feet warm in the winters. I'm in the woods & ditch banks cutting firewood much of the time as as side business. Many days & evenings in the wet, cold, sometimes muddy, snow, & even ice. These boots have not failed to keep my feet warm in all conditions so far! Many times not even having to wear the thicker, warmer boot socks. They are light weight & easy to work in. The tread makes even walking on ice a breeze! If this product has a "downside" I have yet to find it. Best money I ever spent! I recommend these boots to everyone!
- These are not really waterproof. Let me explain further: I drive a UPS truck. Use of boots is as follows: Get out of truck to deliver a package (from Amazon at about 10% of the time!), get snow on toes. Get back in heated cab. Repeat 100 times. After half a day, my socks are wet at the toes. Other than that I like the boots - they are comfortable and the tread does prevent slips.
