- size too big - product should specify country of origin. This item is made in China, I always thought Timberland products were made in USA
- These boots are perhaps the best set I've ever owned. Nice light weight, durable, and good looking. I've bought Timberland products for years and they never let me down. Excellent boots for the price, considering buying a second pair for somewhere down the road. I highly recommend there, shipping is fast too.
- Good service. Was bought for my son and he doesn't live close But he was very pleased about the product and the service.
- My husband loves these because he has to work outside, sometimes in wet mud. He always stays dry and says they are very comfortable.
- These boots are some of the most comfortable shoes of any kind that I have ever worn. The boots look great and the lacing system is superb. The Gore-tex lining makes a difference in comfort and dryness even when wearing them to the office. You're ready to take off most shoes at the end of the day, but you feel as though you could leave these on indefinitely. What more can be said?

- These are probably the best pair of boots I've ever had. They are very comfortable (especially when a pair of Superfeet insoles are added), very durable, and great looking in a retro way. When/if this pair wears out, I am going to buy another pair. Others have complained about these being made in China, but mine are good to go.
Buy yourself a pair and see.
- Very disappointed to discover the boots are now made in China, his last pair were made in Italy. Still thinking about returning them, worried about the quality.
- What a shame. I bought a pair of these in 1989, and when I realized how great they were- I went right out and bought a second pair. (When you find a good pair of hiking boots you should do that. By the time you need another they don't make them any more.) I can't say enough about the two pairs of Vasque Sundowners I have owned since that time. BUT,.....
Flash forward 18 years, and one of my pairs finally wore out, and I am down to just one. (What a bargain- 18 years of good service. And trust me, my hiking boots get some serious punishment in the backcountry.) So I wanted to get two more pairs, and wondered if by some chance they still made them.
Turns out they do. Sorta. In the photos these *look* just like my trusty Vasques. But I am sad to hear they have moved production from Italy to CHINA. And we know what that means. I didn't really even have to read the other reviews to know what had happened.
So many of the brands that I used to swear by have sold out to cheap Asian labor and manufacturing in countries that have no labor or environmental laws. Sorry to hear that such a fine company as Vasque has sold out too.
I too would be happy to pay DOUBLE or even TRIPLE to get boots that are of such high quality as my Italian- made Vasques. I will not buy the shoddy Chinese versions. Pass. NFW.
When you are alone in the wilderness hours and hours from your car, you can't fool around. Can't take chances.
Don't buy these boots. If you could get the ones they used to make in Italy- I would tell you to buy two like I did.
- I have had a pair of Vasque sundowners and they were the best pair of boots I have ever owned. They were comfortable, sure footed and durable through miles of hikes and rough weather. It seemed time to at last replace them with a new pair of boots. I am obviously a loyal customer, so I went to buy a new pair of Vasques. Very sadly, the move to China manufacturing has resulted in a cheaper shoe. The quality is not as good, the shoe does not break in as well and the durability is no where near what it was. This is not China bashing. I have tons of products made in China that are great. The reality is that it is rooted in greed on Vasque's management. They could cheapen up the build steps and materials and expertise right in Italy, the move to China was to also get cheaper labor. Other companies outsource to China and maintain good build quality, but not in this case. Normally I would not care at all, as this seems the recent trend of events, but in this case the old Italian made Vasque's were real works of art, so Shame on Vasque management for allowing this to happen. VP Product Management take note and start offering a Vasque Standard (current model) and a Vasque Premium for 2X the money made in Italy like it used to be.
- I take no pleasure in this review. I just received (March 2007) my 3rd pair of Vasque Sundowners. I'd used up my GTX Sundowners (4th pair of Vasque boots) that I've had for about 3 years. This is the first pair that squeaks. I like good shoes, and I like taking care of them. I had always been proud to wear Vasque, but the quality of these is just not that great. The leather is thinner, and is dimpling, so they even look cheaper. It's a shame, I wish Red Wing (another brand I`ve enjoyed in the past) had not acquired Vasque. It is the end of a great tradition.

- There is now doubt - these are the best boots on the planet. this is my third pair I think. they do whatever I want them to do. Hiking _ walking or most importantly get me through swiss carnival days in Lucerne without getting wet or cold! It is THE Boot of all times for me anyway. Fits like a glove and keeps you warm and dry. If any co plaints: send them in and you will get a new pair - that is how their customer satisfaction guarantee works!
- Arrived in a very timely manner and looks great. Was a gift and much appreciated by my son. Very happy!

- I've owned three pairs of these boots over the last ten years or so. They're comfortable, and they meet my needs on a daily basis. I've used them for light hiking, fishing, camping, and snow removal, and they perform admirably in most conditions. For the price, they're an excellent all-around boot. The only time they've really fallen short is when I've been climbing steep, sandy trails and doing some minor bouldering. They weren't designed for this, and they tend to slip when you really have to dig in. A vibram sole would probably fix this.
Overall a good boot for everyday wear. For serious hiking and trekking, however, go with a Merrell or Vasque.

- I feel like all the Alaskan guys I saw last summer. A warm pair of sox underneath, and life is dry! Great service
- Excellent product. Very good value for the money.
- Great item! Have already used several times and is exactly as is described.
- These are decent boots, and they have the advantage of being slightly higher than one would expect, coming to just a few inches below my knees.
On thing I've found is that since they are black, if you use them in direct sunlight, they will become very uncomfortably hot. They are also fairly thin.
Another thing missing is a a ridge on the back of the boot to make taking them off easier. Previous boots of this type had that, which let me take off the boot with the other foot quite easily.
On the other hand, these boots are quite cheap, so FOR THE MONEY it's still not a bad deal.

- I love timberland boots, I've been wearing them for the past 5 years and overall I was very satisfied with them. However this last pair that I bought disappointed me a bit though. I've had to send them back after a few months because I was getting a very annoying sound from each one on every step I took. The return was easy, and I got my refund.
I bought a new pair at a store, and have been wearing them for about 6 months now, but I a starting to get the same sound of one of the pairs. This issue needs solving fast.
These boots are great for people who like to walk a lot, and not nesecarely walking on concrete. I just hope the quality gets back to where it used to be.
- These boots were exactly what my 17-year-old son wanted, but when we ordered his regular shoe size, they were way too big. He needed them for a trip, so we didn't have time to exchange them by mail. He tried on two other pairs at a local sporting goods store, and ended up with a full size smaller than his regular shoe size. I wish that the website had provided advice on sizing.

- the shoes was nice color and fit my size with good quality and texture, but it was not identical to the photo exactlly. the base of the shoes in the photo has a white stitches but mine it has not.
- . . . are my Timberland boots. Timberland started out making great shoes; now the brand is associated with clothing and a lot of other crap. I have owned a number of Timberland shoes, with differing results. And, I know that while these boots are expensive, you can spend more to buy boots with more technical features, more R&D, etc.
Forget the prices, the Timberland brand of fashion, and even the 'better' boots that you might find at a boutique hiking store. THESE boots are the stuff. I have owned my pair for a decade, and they are only getting better.
And I have worn them hard, if not often. Long hikes and camping trips, deep snow, rain, and even city streets (including an inaugural walk from Greenwich Village to Midtown Manhatten in them), and I have devoted zero time caring for them. The result? Bulletproof leather, soles (including the heels) that seem to show no wear, increased comfort, and not one drop of water has gotten to my feet. I have stood in running creeks, played in the snow for hours, worn them in the rain (you get the idea) - with no leaks. They are amazing. (Was walking through the dark just last night as a matter of fact, in isolated rural Missouri after about a month of springtime rain, and heard my feet going ankle deep in puddles while I stargazed upward - wet feet couldn't have been further from my mind.)
Buy these at any price. As for me, I think I'll be buried in mine; perhaps they'll be found again someday, with my teeth.
- These Timberland boots are rugged and dependable just as Amazon notes! I have had these boots for years and they never let in a single drop of water, slush, freezing rain--you name it, they protected my feet from it.
The boots will cost you more than some of the other brands but I assure you that there's no better boot for men out there. They are remarkably water resistant; and if you spray on a bit of water repellent you'll have even greater confidence. You won't need the water repellent; but it sure makes you extra super-duper sure that your feet will be dry no matter what!
The laces also stay intact years after you purchase these boots. The sole and the overall construction reflect excellent quality throughout. I'm very impressed!
Overall, men won't find a better boot than those made by Timberland. I highly recommend these boots for men during bad weather. They keep your feet warm, too! If you need a boot that goes higher than 6 inches Timberland makes those as well; and they're every bit as good as these are.
Wear 'em in good health!
- This boot is affordable, and simple enough that it can be worn everyday with jeans or sweat pants. This boot goes with everything.
I usually wear a 12 - 12 1/2 in mens, but in this boot, I took a 11 1/2.
So it runs small
